DJ's 1968 Ford Thunderbird

well figured id start a project log for my tbird...ill start with some basic info of the car

68 Tudor Landau
429cid ThunderJet V8 rated at 360 HP and 480 ft. lbs of torque
95K miles
original interior
9 inch rear with 2.80:1 gears open diff
Air conditioning
AM only radio with an 8 track player
Power bench seat
true dual exhaust system with Flowmaster super 40s
wheels are off a lincoln town car but will be swapped out for the correct steel wheels with wheel covers

this is what it looked like when i got it home






first thing i did was detailed it because it was pretty dirty cleaned up real nice

no lol not yet anyway...hopefully the car will be in the garage in the next few weeks

couple things actually fixed themselves today...the blower motor started working again and so did the horn...they didnt work when i got the car yesterday

first thing i fixed was the sequential signals...the inside light would stay on and only the outer 2 would flash...so i replaced the original mechanical sequncer with this electronic one from cougars unlimited...they now flash like they should

just did a minor thing today...organized the trunk...the jack, jack base, and lug wrench were just thrown in there...so i put everything where it belongs...I'm hoping to have a new interior in there by June

another minor thing i did over the weekend...degreased the motor...turned out pretty good...just need to repaint the motor now

Looks good man... even just pulling a few things off and repainting would make a big difference until you can do everything.

yea...when i get the new carb here soon im gonna do the intake manifold and the valve cover gaskets could stand to be replaced lol...hoping to have it painted by the end of summer

god i came a long way on the car...heres what i did

painted air cleaner



new carb



new valve cover gaskets

tune up

correct wheels and tires


overhauled the brakes


old master cylinder(this is what happens if you dont change the fluid)



fixed battery tray
















undercoated the floor



got a repro window sticker

yea and the seat still works perfectly too...power windows and locks were optional too

car has disc brakes too obviously....and all the power i could ever want lol
