Just got an email back from Spectra Premium, for some reason, their fan on Rockauto is cheaper than anyone else and anything else, specs look identical to the Dorman fan:

9.2a and 27.8 draw and 1811 and 2780 CFM

What wheels are you running btw?

Also, i see you noted the rad hose at 40mm ID? Confirmed? i notice you had too wide of an adaptor when you made it.

Right now i have the factory ten slot wheels that came on it, albeit refinished and the insets painted black.

Rad hose inner diameter is 40mm (on mine). The coupling I bought had a 40mm internaldiameter. The outer diameter needs to be 40, otherwise it's a tight squeeze. Doable with enough soap and swearing (both for the mouth and connector), but not ideal.

Gonna have to make a hose adaptor like you did, i can find a nice $10 one but they're all 1/8th threads :(

Anyway, what are the wheels top of page 17? i quite like those (having trouble finding anything decent for wheels here)

Those wheels I believe are called 'D slots'. My father bought a set of four from the local wreckers. Fairly common wheel to see. If you want to spend the extra cash, you could get new ones from rockauto.

Yeah, there were essentially zero wheels at our junkyard :(
People sell either crappy wheels, or wheels at the price they sell Subaru's at in this area (it's a bad thing, people here think Subaru's are God's gift to the PNW, literally thousands over priced and they still sell)

it's mouth over priced if they sell. A lot of guys on this forum think our ranger market is over priced.

It is.

Unfortunately the fact that people are paying the prices has happened so many times for both Rangers and Subaru's, that they're all getting sold at (and bought) at the same over high prices :(

The bulbs, ballasts, and their packaging after making sure it was all there and nothing damaged.

Installation was dirt simple. First I took both bulbs and ballasts out and confirmed they were both working before proceeding further. Never touch the bulbs, btw. If you do, clean them with rubbing alcohol with a papertowel or lint free rag. Be gentle!

As you can tell from the first and last photos, the harness was modified slightly. For some reason they added this rubber grommet around the wires which not only made the installation messy an unorganized, but also prevented me from removing the plastic ring which was originally around the bulb.

So, using a small pair of cutters, I carefully cut the rubber grommet off. and separated the two pairs of wires. Two wires came off the bulb and the other two wires were an extension cable that goes between the ballast and the truck harness. I felt this unnecessary for my application so I set them aside for another project later.
As an added note, the grommets for the connectors (two pin style) do not want to seat well. I ended up using the yellow grommets from the extension cables and putting the grommet down inside the ballast's socket. That worked well.

On the opposite side of the ballast is a silver metal plate, which acts as a heat sink. The ballast was ziptied up behind the bumper out of the way with the metal side facing outwards so not to melt anything as well as get the wind whipping around it at speed. I also decided to use some split loom I had laying around to clean it up a little was well as to protect the wires better.

The bulbs were a very tight fit in the fog light housings, which is very welcome in my book. If I find these glare later on tonight, I'll switch them off and save up for a set of projector lenses if adjustment doesn't fix the issue. I can't wait to see these at night!
greetings. Thank you for such an Indepth thread. I really appreciate your detail and pics. I read through the entire thread. You have covered a lot of the mods I intent to do as well. This one caught my eye but I couldn't find any more on whether these worked out and if they are still in use. I'd love to order these if you still have good things to say about them. I have an 07 sport ranger so I'm not sure your exact ones would fit mine. Any details about what to order would be appreciated as I'm not as familiar with leds and electrical. But Im confident after reading through I can handle this install.

im still not confident on getting an efan yet. Even if I paid a shop to order and install I'd still worry about burning my truck down. I'd definatly double down on my fire insurance if I did install one. Lol.

the cheap chinese HIDs I had installed (big difference between these and LEDs) crapped out after some time. I suspect the heatsink installed onto them wasn't able to keep the chips cool enough, thus they burned out.

If you want good ones, you're going to need to pay some cash for 'em. Some other members recommend the brand "OPT 7". You can find them on amazon, possibly some other places. They're more expensive (70 bucks) but you get what you pay for. I have not bought them yet, as I'm putting that money elsewhere. As of right now, I'm just running plain halogen bulbs.

Nothing makes me want to drive into on coming traffic more than cheap hids in a housing not designed for it. At least spend the money and put good retrofits so you're not blinding people

I always buy oem or higher quality parts for my truck. I change all my bulbs annually, whether they are bad or not. I have quite a drawer full of emergency spares. Lol. Good thing i have a few friends that have rangers too. Lol.

I just don't know what to order. If there was a kit like your headlight retrofit it would already be ordered and on the way. ill try googling and see what comes up. But to be honest, I wouldn't even know if i was looking at the right stuff. Google also thinks rangers are f150s too. Ill keep looking. Thanks....found opt7 home page. I'll try contacting them.

you've come a long way with you truck!! That was quite a transformation. I bet the previous owner wouldn't even recognise it. When I sell a vehicle, your the kind of person I hope ends up with it. I always end up selling to someone who tells me a sob story and then does donuts till it throws a rod or burns off till it's on rims and leaves it. My last ranger went to a lady who just had a child, so i made sure everything worked. 6 months later her boyfriend put it on its side.
