just really been working on getting my garage/storage shed turned into an actual garage/shop. I just wired it up this weekend with 220 and am working on getting my welding table and tool boxes setup now. I have been working on an adapter to get the 2001 steering column to work with the 94 steering shaft and box.

Whats a gsk?

I have a 1970 c30 I am turning into a tow pig. It's getting a 6BT/47RH. That will be the project after I get this truck running and driving again.

governor spring kit. i think the most common one is a 3200 spring over the stock 2500rpms.
for turbos, most people over on 4bt swaps switch to a he341, hx30 or 35, or an hy35.
a lot of them run the denny t stage 2 fuel pin and the combo of the 3 are supposed to net around 200 horse with some tuning.

Its got an axle again...

The rotors need to be resurfaced, and the shocks need to be completely redone. The air here pretty much destroyed them, and I have way too much money in them, so i will have them rebuilt.

The interior is in process. The interior will be all dark grey and black. My buddy owns an upholstery shop, so he is doing the headliner and the center console lid.

Thanks. it needs a lot of work, but does very good for storing parts. Sure!

Good man. Busier than hell. I've been working on my house and garage for most of the time. Starting to chip away at my projects though.

I need some persuasion...

So anyone who has ever looked at the last few pages of this thread has seen that the former bad *** yellow Ranger that is D-Ranged has been torn down and partially built back with lackluster results...

The 4BT is the engine I want to go with. The only problem is this engine sells for 2500.00 bucks all day everyday. That's just the engine. I can buy an entire step van, but that is usually in the 3000-3500 range.

The problem I have is I don't have $2500+ to drop into this truck right now. School is coming up in 6 months, and my monthly income is going to drop by almost 1/3 and time will be very strapped. So i pretty much have 6 months to fix this truck, or leave it until after school and a new job, which is about 2 years away.

I don't want to wait 2 years...

What would you guys do? Throw a SOHC 4.0 in it from a 2000-2001 Explorer? Throw in a 3.0 to match the wiring and everything for the current cab?
Wait the 2 years and finish it all at once?

The thing is that it will eventually have a 4BT in it. Eventually. In the meantime while I'm in school and saving money, I could install a JY engine that BOLTS IN and plugs right up and drive it everyday while I'm saving. Which was the original plan when i bought the donor truck in the first place.

Notice there was one thing I didn't post above... An Explorer V8 swap. This is more work than I'm looking at getting into. I know how I am, and I will dump tons of money into it, which I don't have and it will sit again. So unless someone offers up a running explorer v8 with harness and transmission for sub 500 bucks, its out of the question. The goal would be to have it running and driving for less than a grand. Total. Not buying an entire explorer for 1500, selling everything i don't need, and keeping what i do, that's not an option. I don't have time/space/money for that. I need to be able to go to a JY, unbolt the engine (with or without motor mounts), take it to my house, and bolt it into my setup.

you already got it in?? good, you can help me with mine! haha. Let me know when you need an extra pair of hands/eyes/brain and I can find time to come help out with whatever.

3.0 would be the easiest it looks like, but the 4.0 sohc would be worth it if you think you could get it done.

I think for the V8 to be worth it, you would want to build it up, and do the upgrades before it goes in the truck, so if you aren't going to go all in on the V8, I think you'd be as well off with the 4.0

I posted this same message on 3 different forums seeking input from multiple views. A buddy of mine on TRS said he could get the truck running in a week and could score a moor/trans for cheap at his local PAP. All i need to do is bring D to his shop in West TN. It's the leading force right now as i still have the C10, C30, and Explorer that need stuff done.

As for the console, it still isn't in yet. Its sitting inside the cab. I'll likely get the new dash in and hooked up, then haul the truck to Rick for the powertrain setup, then go pick it back up and finish the body work/interior. It will stay 4wd during this temperary stage, as I plan to drive it instead of the Dodge everyday. Whether its a V8 or SOHC 4.0, that's dependent on him and what he wants to grab. Power wise they are about the same, the V8 a little more, but it gets not-so-good fuel mileage, but sounds better. Knowing him, it will likely get the Explorer V8 treatment.

My opinion: Drop a 4.0 to hold you over and start saving for the 4BT swap

I'm leaving it up to Rick. (not the same one as the PO of this site)

I'd like to have the v8 just for cool factor and nothing really beats the sound of a v8, but whatever he can get done for cheap and quick, that's what will be in here.

I have to connect the steering linkage, bolt down the cab, and install the topper clamps then she is off to West TN

Tires are on, steering is done, and she is ready to be transported.

The steering is the 94 steering shaft, with an adapter to fit the 01 column.

Well, the spoiler was initially there when i started... By the time we got there, it was no longer part of the lid. It didn't even make it a couple miles from my dad's house.

Big thanks to Steel for riding with me all the way there and back. Once D gets back home, I will get that bumper of yours knocked out.
