just a little project for the ranger
So I started my sas.
It all started with a Dana 60 i picked up a while back for $80. Yes $80.
Im running leaves, dont like it, i dont care..
to start...
The dana 60
Parked the truck, everything on the front was falling apart, tie rods, ball joints, hub bearings, thing vibrated like no other and i couldnt justify putting my life or others in danger driving it anylonger.
The teardown
move the axle under the truck, yes i still need to grind the frame smooth, but i couldnt leave the axle in the middle of the drive way..
front cross member is stitting on leaves, you can see it in the pic.
So far the steering is gonna be fun, i want to move the axle forward 2". So i have to put the tierod behind the axle with the "helicopter high steer arms, other wise the draglink is gonna be at a goofy angle.
today = rain, we shall see what tomorrow has in store, hope fully grind the rest of whats left of the stock brackets off, as they have already been torched out.

They are stock ford leaves with leaves removed. they are too long, dont think ima run them.
going with 5.13's, not sure on tires yet if i want bias or radials, but for sure 17" rim. looking at 39" rockers, and i dont have a problem cutting fenders
torch was easy no way i would of done it with out one !
The truck most likely will not keep the body lift. its already to tall.
Yea, good times huh jared haha its in the forsale section along with everything else !
Rear axle will most likely be a 14bolt or a d70, me a kevin (2002fx4) spotted a dana 70 hd the other day.. but im not sure yet. rear will get 63" cheby leaves

screw the 14 bolt... i think they are overrated IMO!!!! run a Sterling 10.25, the only disadvantage to the 14b is that it has one less pinion support bearing which only really matters if your running upwards of 400 hp... the Sterling has 2-2.5 inches more of ground clearance... plus, the 14b weighs 558 lbs and the Sterling is only 310, you dont want that boat anchor under your ranger! what year is the D60 out of?
