PA Series "Lil Black"

So I've been doing a lot to my truck lately and decided it was time I started a project thread.

I got my truck for my 19th birthday in May of 2009. It's a 2001 3.0L 2WD Edge with 70,000 miles on it.

Here's what it looked like the day I got it (almost bone stock)

The first thing I added was a new head unit along with a 10" Kicker sub woofer.

Size: 34.8 KB

The faded grey honeycomb grille annoyed me every time I looked at it so I spray painted it satin black.

Then came tint. 35% on the sides and 5% on the rear.

I added clear corners but I only had them on for about a week or so. I sold them on here after I bought a set of black headlights and corners from RangerJustin.

Made a trip to the local junkyard and I returned with a tan OHC. I spray painted it black and installed it in the Ranger.

I was visiting a friend in Fort Worth,TX in July and I got a chance to meet up with Johnbaum13. Picked up a soft tonneau cover from him which I still owe him big time for!

At this point(August 2009) I was short on cash so the mods came to a small hault. I niteshaded my tails since it was relatively cheap and then I ordered a pair of L1224Rs from JP7.

Recently I have added a set of 6000K HIDs.

And now for my most recent mod. One of my first post on this board was about my crappy instrument cluster. The previous owner had swapped the stock one out for an aftermarket set. This caused my speedometer to be off by 10 miles. The gauges were suppose to light up blue or green but they only worked 2% of the time. (Johnbaum13 can attest to how ****ty this stupid cluster was). Yesterday I made a trip to the junkyard and pulled a white cluster out of Explorer sport. I might go back and get the silver HVAC controls as well. Anyways here are some before and after shots.

Before

Anyways I actually have some things coming in the mail right now and I should have wheels and tires by Christmas. I've been looking at toolboxes lately but that's still iffy. Once I get the appearance the way I want it I'll start focusing on things under the hood. I'm thinking of getting Screaming Demon Coils from Underdog Performance, but not sure when I'll get around to that.

At this point I don't have the funds or knowledge to do either. I've thought about cranking the tbars and getting larger tires but I would have to regear first.

you would be fine with your stock gears (im assuming 3.73) with 31's or even 32's, both of which wouldnt require a lift you would just need to crank the t-bars

I don't wanna put words in any ones mouth but I think I remember Shane saying something about how it would throw my speedometer off and my odometer wouldn't be accurate as well?

Looks real good, did you peel your front emblem apart, or buy it black like that.

I pulled it apart and painted it. I'm switching to a billet grille soon though.

hey man, looking good.

Depending on the grill installation (which I don't remember how they go), if you don't have to hack up the honeycomb, I'd love to have a prepainted spare hint hint haha.

UPS delivered a package today. Hmm I wonder what it is

It took me about 45 minutes to install, most of the time was spent trying to align it straight. Would have been a lot easier if I would have just taken the damn tail gate off. Oh well I think it came out nice. Its really bright too.

Check out this night shot with JUST the running lights on.

So I think this makes up for my nightshaded tails being so dark.

Soon. I need tires first. I'm still going back and forth on whether I want to get a new set of 235/75/15 tires and get my rims powder coated black or if I want to spend around $400-$500 more and get a set of 17" Mustang rims (cobras or fr500s) and a good set of tires to go with em.

Not a major mod but I did get around to doing something truck related today. I was having some issues with my HIDs. Sometimes I'd turn on my headlights before starting the truck then I'd start it and the passanger side light would turn off. The only way to get it to turn back on was to turn off the lights and wait for the ballast to cool off then try again. This was extremely inconvenient so I had ordered a relay kit a few weeks ago. It's been sitting on a shelf for over a week so I finally got around to installing it today.

I probably should switch to black zip ties cause my engine bay has zip ties everywhere. This is due to my HIDs, accessory outlet, amplifier, and OHC temp sensor.

I mounted the relay right next to the battery, made sense to me.

On another note there has been a bunch of break ins at the parking lot to my work. So I'm seriously considering an alarm. The place that tinted my windows quoted me $200 to install a basic alarm and to convert my locks to power. Basically the locks would work with a key fob. I wouldn't have the buttons on my door panel though. For an extra $100 I can get a 2 way alarm with remote start. Only issue is I only have one PATS key, and I need at least 2 for the remote start to work. Hopefully I can find a lock smith thats cheaper then the dealership to program a second key for me.

Yea no 32s over here. I stuck with 235/75/R15. I don't ever go off road so I didn't get any real exciting tires. I'm more excited about getting rid of my crappy stock rims and getting these sidebiters on.
