rob did like 99% of the work. i cut the gaskets, painted and took the pics for you guys. i should have got a pic of the paint cap. the mount is bright pink. my girl picked out the colour and we just kinda went with it.

offroadn_redneck 04-18-2010 08:05 PM

just out of curiosity, why is it called a cry baby flag?

morris 04-18-2010 08:07 PM

play on the pink and blue thing. the mount is pink, truck is blue. just like the ice cream.

offroadn_redneck 04-18-2010 08:08 PM

oh. i get it now. I thought thats what them flags were called, for i have never used one and i see them all over the site

My91Ranger 04-19-2010 05:57 AM

Haha looks good Morris! Thanks for dinner.

morris 04-19-2010 08:51 AM

again, thanks to you guys. i showed it to my step dad and i stood on it and jumped a couple times and it didn't budge. like aaron said, if the flag is touching my hood, there are bigger problems at hand.

it's still on my truck, i'm taking it off today when i wash and wax. i'll copy it to paper so it'll be available if anyone is interested in making their own.

Great idea, Morris! That works out pretty darn good!

A variation of this style of mount is a more permanent mount that you can still have full use of your towhook with.....

First, pull out your top(horizontal) towhook bolt and get an approx 1/2" longer one and a nut and lock washer. Get yourself some 1/4" 2x8" angle iron, or bend up a 1/4"x1 1/2" flat bar into an angle like a light tab. Drill your holes. Then, run your new bolt through the towhook. Slide the newly fabbed bracket onto the newly extended top bolt, run your nut, tighten. BAM! Fully functioning towhook AND flag mount/light mount on 06+.

Here's some pics of almost the exact setup I'm suggesting, but used for light mounting. There is a spacer nut there because I made the brackets too short for the truck, but I made the brackets using the same measurements Underdog used to make the 98-05 Light Tabs. Pictured is 1/8" or 3/16 stock...I suggest using 1/4". You can make it tighter towards the top of the bumper hole.....we did what we had to do on the truck with what we had to work with.....pre-fabbed brackets and no torch at home. lol.

nice shane. i still have the other side hook available. i love that truck the way it's set up. down the road, i'd like to get some kc lites for mine and mount them like you did with a l shaped bar across the top of the bumper. that light mount pictured makes it look like it's real tight in that area for using the tow hook.

It is...but then again, like I said above, I pre-made them and didn't have any tools to remake new ones at home or even a dremel grinding stone to make the mounting hole 'taller' to suck up the mount. so, we had to sorta run what we had. If I were to make another set, they'd be perfect, fit tight up against the top of the valence hole, thus giving plenty more room for loopin' stuff around the hooks or whatever. In the close up's, it's like an inch too low. What I posted was just another option that's a variation of yours. It in no way is a perfect setup because afterall, we used what I already had.

Hope that made sense. I'm a lil loopy right meow. lol.

that came out good I need to make some before i head out to the dunes.

morris 04-23-2010 09:43 PM

if you want a capy of the mounts, lemme kno, i'll trace em and send the paper to you. i kno you have a different year truck, but i'm sure you could modify them to fit your hooks.
