Oh5Edge's '06 XL build

Alright, so after a long time being out of the Ranger world I'm finally back. For those that remember my old truck, it was totalled January 2010 by a girl who made a left turn infront of me through an intersection. Bent the frame bad enough to where it pulled the bolts for the rear cab mounts out of the frame. So after flip flopping vehicles my father-in-law was selling his fleet vehicles making room for new and sold me this Ranger for $2,800. So the build begins.....
First day. One of the most filthy trucks I've seen.

But hey, for 2,800 I ain't complaining. So I clean, clean, and clean some more. Then raid my old parts room for "extras". Came up with clear corners and a tool box. Oh, and took that nasty bug guard off. Oh, and it had an airbag code for passenger side seatbelt sensor. Plugged it back up and it's fine. Then a CEL P0420 for catalyst system efficiency below threshold. Looks like someone's taking a cat out and getting a dummy O2 sensor.

Crap, man I actually have to go to work now so progress stops. Wait, no it doesn't. I'm on night shift this week. Snag some black paint and go to town!

THEN, I find another parts stash in a closet in the very back behind everything imagineable........Wifey must not have wanted me to "tinker". Roll pan goes from DSG to Oxford White and bumper comes off.

Now it's the end of my night-shift week and I have to go back to days where I'm never at our house by myself and the wife is pregnant and refuses to have anything else draw my attention but her which is fine by me. She often thought I loved my other Ranger more than her so she's cautious about new "Rangers".

Next project for night-shift week. FREEEEE of charge, just like everything else so far.

Ya'll feel free to give suggestions, I'm all ears.

Quick update, nothing too exciting but I just scored a free headunit out of an F250, it's the satellite capable and aux capable unit with the factory amp inside. Plug and play, swap it out and this thing sounds SO much better than the factory radio that I had. And I took off those black plastic guards just behind the rear fenderwells, polished my Ford emblem on the front and plan on painting the grille and front bumper this coming up week. I'll get some pictures up sometime. This little truck's coming together nicely. QUICK QUESTION, for changing to power windows from manual, does it require a new regulator AND motor? Or just a motor? I can do the wiring no biggie. Just curious if the regulators were the same.

Painted the grille the other day and took the emblem down to chrome and polished it. Then I took those black plastic guards off the bottom of the bed behind the rear tires.

Front bumper is next on the list, and yes I know the hood is jacked up on the stops. The paint was still tacky and I didn't want to set it down on top of it.

Looks good... the painted grille makes a huge difference! Going to do the bumper cover too?

Yeah it does make a big difference in look, but bumper and valence are next on the paint list. The mesh in the grille will be painted black along with everything behind the grille and then the expanded aluminum mesh will be put in as inserts. I'm going to take a dive into the DIY tint soon to help the "aquarium" feel.

I don't have an up close picture of the emblem before but the reason I did it that way is all the clear and blue were chipping off. So with a little brake clean and some time with a blade, then polish, it looks tons better than oxidized bubbled up pealing blue. I'd like to paint the "Ford" and the ring around it white, then the back drop painted black.

you'll need to remove your rain guards on the window before you tint. you have to trace the window from the outside.

Not bad. I too would have left the grill black, and kept the stock bumper. I'm not a fan of rollpans. Other then that, its coming along.
