Last night I put the passenger side head on and got everything torqued down. After doing some more reading today I realized I had the head gasket on that side installed wrong. So today I tore that side all apart again and now she's starting to look like a motor again. Managed to lose one of my intake bolts so it's not torqued down right now. Here's how it all sits right now though.

Where do you think the bolt went? Are you able to get a replacement?

Somewhere in the garage I'm guessing. I'll find a replacement at work or Lowes. It's not a high stress bolt. Only has like 25lbs on it and it's distributed with 11 other bolts. Not a big concern.

Haha me too! If it weren't for them I'd hate to cover up those rockers.

Around noon I had it to this stage:

Then I made a run to get some oil and anti-freeze and went back to work:

It took me about an hour to get that distributor in there. PITA! Need to get a throttle body gasket, install that, bolt up the alternator, and double check everything and it'll be ready to run! I also hooked up my Maximum Motorsports steering shaft and rerouted my clutch cable. So glad I rerouted that cable too because it made it so much softer.

She should be running tomorrow. If she fires up and everything is good to go, I'll be driving it all next week.

Yep! I'm so tired of looking at it just sit there. I'm going to drive it(hopefully) all this coming week, find a LX front bumper soon, then get it painted while I'm at the beach(or before then if possible).

Looking good... I love those GT40 intakes. You should have done it to match the valve covers!

I will at some point. I started up the car for the first time today. It's running a little rough, has a few leaks here and there. Fuel pressure gauge under the hood is leaking for some reason right around the fitting and I lost a header bolt(in the truck somewhere) so it pretty much burns your eyes idling in the garage. Also is chattering some which I think is just because of the "lack" of oil throughout the motor.

Proof that she does still move:

And the finished motor(for now):

I need to set the lash on the rockers so I'll be tearing it down again next weekend probably. Who knows, might start on it tomorrow if it's not 100* again. Kinda sucks that I have to tear into it again but that's what I get for not doing things the first time. I'm thinking about painting the intake to match the valve covers. Maybe...I don't really know yet. Kind of like it how it is.

What if you just did the flat section the same and left the tube part the way it is?

Maybe. I'm not too worried about it. I think it looks good enough for now. It's not a show car haha

Looking great. Looks are fine and good, but for me it what it feels like to drive. Especially down the 1320.
