Very nice. I really love that the side emblems work with your turn signals and flashers. If I saw that going around a turn. I would not be able to take my eyes off that. I do want to see what lights you fit behind the grill. I can't see room to mount them proper or just make them fit. I guess I missed your new rims. Probably going to paint my rims flat black. They already have paint on them. They are white not shiny. The flat black I like with the blue. I have the blue as well. I do light your new rims. Great work. Looking forward to seeing more.

Keegan, thanks for the info! I read through the linked thread you provided and I most likely will just swap out the chrome lever to the Ranger switch. Enjoy your vacation!

Those emblem lights are one of my favorite things on my truck... I always forget they are there and it's always a pleasant surprise to be reminded of! I've ever only seen my truck driving once and I couldn't keep my eyes off of them!

I've seen lots of trucks running either lightbars or Hella offloading lights behind the grill... I've never done it but I've always wanted to.

As for the rims, I don't really like black on blue and am going towards a chrome highlight on my truck (as shown by rims/emblems/tow hooks) so I'm different than most. (That said I don't like the overuse of chrome)

Glad it worked for you! I hope you run into less issues than I a with mine! And I had a great vacation with warm weather and friends I haven't seen in a while!

So y'all remember those 2005 Level 2 tow hooks I had installed backwards? *hint: top left*

Well, I messed around a bit...

And well... they never really got put on correctly...

And I removed them one by one.

So now I have J hooks. Not sure if I like the look of them better, but for functionality, I definitely prefer these.

Two things I never heard any mention of:

1. On my bumper (what is a 01 to 03 with fogs) they actually touch the valance and rub... so I'm missing a bit more paint than I was. No big deal, there were already big gouges in it anyways.

2. From all the pictures I've seen, the J hooks always seemed to stick out farther than regular hooks. After this block of text is a picture of both types installed, and they are the same length... which I actually prefer.

I love the J hooks. It looks a lot better. It makes them more noticeable. That is a good thing. Because when you need them you will see them with little effort. That makes them a great asset. Great JOB!

I personally prefer the J hooks, but the others look good too. If you decide you want to part with a set of these, I call first dibs... okay?

Thanks Jim! I at first didn't like them but as I walked outside tonight they caught some light and the way they shined just looked amazing! I try to build my truck in a way that is functional but also fashionable (in my eyes) and these are starting to fill the bill more and more!

Also, I did a little walk around of my truck so that you can see the side emblems in action... The camera I used is not that great so I'll get another one soon and have a better all around walk around.

I kind of liked how the 05+ level 2 hooks looked, but now seeing these in the night, I am unsure which look better to me now.

Got it! If I part with either, it would be the 05 ones (first ones I had) but at this moment my plans are to mount them onto my dad's truck and only if he decides he doesn't want them anymore do they go to you! 😜

The reason they rub on your valance is because the 02-03 Level II trucks had cutouts in the front valance to clear the tow hooks. Your Edge valance does not have these cutouts.

This picture was taken by Shane. The Level II valance is the one on top. Notice how it is black compared to the lower valance that is more gray. That is the difference between Level II and Fx4 plastics.

learn something new every day!

with all the pictures I've seen, I've never noticed the cutouts, and them being a darker color makes sense (to me) now that I think about it.

If I decide I like these hooks and want to make them a permanent feature, I may cut those notches and not worry about repainting my valance...

anyways, thank you for that info, it's cool to see if always have more to learn!

Yeah, I wasn't aware of that either. Cameron's J hooks don't rub or interfere with anything. He has a new aftermarket chrome bumper and my old 2003 valance, so I don't know what the difference is.

The only thing I can figure is my bumper is just high enough for it not to rub, perhaps due to the different header panel and it's accessories.

Either way, it doesn't appear to be a very complex shape to cut, if necessary. I would try raising the bumper to the absolute top of it's travel, as it appears there is some space between the grille 'ears' and the top piece.

Raising it may do more harm than good....

Did 2 things today...

1. I replaced a burned out tail light.

2. I put in a leather steering wheel.

Now. Just need to get cruise buttons from the junkyard to have a working horn again.

Haha it's yours if you want it then! I can't stand it!

I have parts lined up to replace it, but not the money... the second money comes in, it's gone.

Haha I'll stick to my stock one. I just liked what you did with the Ranger emblem. How do you like the K02's? I love them

That leather steering wheel looks to be in great condition. Funny though, I thought you had an '04 wheel set to go in. Must have dreamed it. LOL

I pulled it off of an Expo in Texas with crazy high miles and it seemed like it was brand new... maybe it was because of all the miles, but for $15 I took it, cleaned it, and drove it back to Michigan!

And no, you're not going crazy, I have the 04 wheel on the floor of my bedroom right now - it being an old Takata scares me so I'm going to wait until winter is over at the soonest before I even think of putting a potential grenade in my truck... it will go in one day though (I'm also waiting hoping for a fixed airbag to hit the markets).

The inflator is the part that becomes lethal. You can purchase one at your Ford dealer, but it is around $85. I have an '04 leather on my truck, but Ford won't perform the recall because it isn't off the original vehicle. So I would have to buy the thing.

The 4 bolts you used to connect the tow hoops. They were missing when I bought my Ranger. Riding it felt loose big time till I found those 4 holes empty. I put 4 good strong bolts in the 4 holes. That made the frame tight again. Can you imagine driving around without those things down tight? I don't know why someone would remove them. I use them as a source of ground for my front lights. Works perfect. Nice and tight. What you have done with your blue truck is amazing. I wish I had a garage. Darn thing just sits outside. Shoveling the snow out of the bed was not fun. Only had to do that once.

$85 is way more doable than $506! I'll look into that! Thanks for the heads up!

On my right hook, I only have 2 bolts in it (I bought new ones and I plan on recoating the hooks so there isn't rust everywhere) but at this moment I am not even trusting of using it as it is not as sturdy as it could be.

Few things. First, I removed my DS tow hook to fix the threads. (The nickname Toothless has once again made its way to my poor girl.)

Next, I put a threaded rod in my shifter and put in a shift **** from a Mazda 3.

Thank you! I love the look and feel, I just need to clean it (along with the rest if my truck) off as it looks like I took a bucket of dirt and threw it around!
