I want to see how much flex you get out of the rear once you get it done. I know mine doesn't flex as much as I would like it to.
I'm running Rancho RS5000 shocks. When I pick it up I will take pictures of it on the ramp. I'm impressed with their flex so far. I know the shackle helps too.

I think you'll have pretty good flex outta the rear. The extended shackles help quite a bit with flex. Mine will flex a ton out back with the deavers, chevy shackles, and 12" travel rancho shocks.

Skyjacker leaf springs are a big improvement. I'm running 6" Softride Skyjacker leaf springs w/ Belltech 6400 shackles and 12" travel .875 shaft Fox reservoir shocks and I love it. I haven't found a spot to fully flex out the rear so I am looking forward to the ramp pictures.

Either that, or we can all head over to Ruidoso. Would be fun to go up there this weekend with all the snow they got.

The Ranger is mostly completed. Just like everybody says, it will never be finished. To complete this "stage" I want my speed/odo correctd and also my rear brakelines extended and not just detached.

I put it in 4WD yesterday on a dirt road and I have a new problem. Transfer case engaged and hubs locked going straight it works fine. Whenever I turn even a tiny bit I hear this aweful grinding sound and I can't move forward and turn. I'm not sure what is causing this and nothing that I can find is hitting and causing the sound. In 2wd I have no problems at all. With hubs locked transfer case in 2wd I have no issues. Transfer case engaged hubs unlocked no issues. It has something to do with the torque being applied to the drivetrain. Any ideas?

Basically in 4x4 I can't have forward momentum and turn. Truck literally won't move even with some gas applied.

Yes locked front and rear. I had the GF slowly drive the truck and I know it is coming from the front diff. I hear the locker disengage when turning in 2wd with hubs locked so I have kind of ruled that out. I'm going to stop by Monday at the shop that rebuilt my axle and have them look at it. The only thing that I think it could be is that the gears are a different ratio than the rear, but that is my wild guess. Both receipts say that 5.13 gears installed so I guess we'll see. I'm just curious as to what would grind in the diff only when turning with torque applied.

once 4wd is active its a whole diff. ballgame. there could be some major binding in the shafts at the diff or the locker itself. is it a lunchbox locker or a straight up locker?

lock-right. I know turning locked all around is a chore in itself. It is the grinding sound that I know is not normal. I can hear it in the cab loud and clear over the radio. I don't mean turning much. About 1/2 - 1 rotation of the steering wheel and I'm grinding and then not moving. Basically, I cant turn in 4wd, lol.

it might be that its not disengaged all the way and it going in and out of being locked while turning. It should normally allow the outside wheel to travel faster in a turn, and go locked like a spool when straight. so there could be a problem with that function maybe.

I'm not terrbily worried about it. It is a mechanical problem like any other vehicle has.

It was gravel/dirt. No I haven't ever driven a fully locked vehicle. I do believe that it should turn slightly without this horrendus grinding sound coming from the diff. I know about popping and binding, but I think this is something else.

Problem found. Apparently the shop that rebuilt my front diff didn't put fluid in it, but wrote it on the diff cover. The other shop painted it and probably just didn't notice the writing. I wasn't told or don't remember being told there wasn't fluid in the diff. The gears are pretty worn down but not destroyed. I will probably get new gears in the future as these somehow still work. It's all being taken care of as the shops are long time friends. Just an inconvenience for me.

wow dude really? what comes into play is the full completion of the truck, you gave a shop your truck to build and in the end they handed you over a "ready to go" product. (apparently that wasnt the case). if im paying that much to have someone SAS my truck they better cover everything, and for them to overlook that detail is ridiculous for the amount they are being payed... i would be very upset if i were you and would make them buy you new gears AND install them for free, no questions asked. Do not make excuses for them, that is a total mistake and phawk up on their part and they need to take responsibility for it.

The shop that rebuilt the axle never puts fluid in axles that aren't installed so this was overlooked by both shops in the end. The gears work fine and you can't tell by driving it that they're worn at all. They sprayed some stuff in the diff to clean out the shavings and they filled it up with fluid. I'll be back Friday for them to change the diff fluid again. Both shops stand by their work and I will be getting gears installed in the near future. I just showed up today and the 2 techs and owner dropped what they were doing to check out the truck and get it fixed. They've always taken excellent care of my and my buddies in the past and present. I'm always nice and have no problem paying for work. Today I asked what I owed and the owner shook my hand, apologized, told me to come by later in the week for a fluid change and then we'll get gears ordered and installed, I'll take care of it. I'll bring them a 30 pack too on Friday because mistakes happen and they're a stand up shop. They're usually booked out at least 1 month as they're so busy. They have a good reputation for a reason. They know what customer service is!
