I don't feel like having to continuously clean and re-oil my filters.

Exactly, not worth it.. especially if their is no real gain from it.

If you find a 4x4 Trans for the 3.0L, you can use just about any 1354 or 1350 you want. If you get an older unit, like what I put below, you can use a 95-96 Explorer front driveshaft with a double cardan setup. Way easier to find and generally way cheaper than using the tulip style CV and trying to find a transfer case with that output yoke.

1993 Ford Ranger Transfer Case 4.0L,A4-4X4 WARNER 1354 MAN. Florida Dial-A-Part USA-FL(Riverview) 1-813-671-3131 1-866-358-3131.

Thanks for the info Tyler. I had seen mention of using a 95-96 shaft before, and that was my backup plan in case I couldn't find a T-Case from a Level II. May end up just going with an older 1354 when I decide to do the 4x4 swap again down the road.

Or just quit being so picky and just buy one of the ones you found instead of trying to find one that has 1,000 miles on it.

Or better yet, just don't bother to convert a truck that barely goes offroad.

Maybe all that "barely" stuff is going to change.........or maybe not. I had a valid excuse cause the electric didn't shift into low one time in the driveway lol and they have a habit of not wanting to shift out of low after they get hot.

Well, I use this truck as my daily driver, so I don't tend to go out looking for mud. On all of the off-road trips I took before I blew up the transmission, I had only gotten myself stuck twice, and that was when I had stock tires and no lift.

Blowing up the transmission and snapping the rack and pinion, along with all the little **** that happened at the same time really made me change my opinion on off-roading this truck. It REALLY sucked having to drive 40 miles home with only two working gears and messed up alignment.

In reality I'm just chickening out. But, at least I'll still have the parts laying around if I ever decide to do this again when I'm more prepared.

Yeah off roading your DD can get a little tricky when something breaks.

I originally only had a blown transmission. That happened about 15 minutes into the trip. At that point I said screw it and just hit the trails hard. That's when everything else started to break too. lol. I had fun though, and that's what counts.

So I haven't updated this in awhile. Only real change is that I ditched the black flares and valance, as well as the 4x4.

Truck is now double lifted, in the front.

Welcome to the club, now get to work on the back, unless you like the bulldog stance that is.

Maybe you already said but why did you decide not to finish the 4x4 swap?

Couldn't find a transmission and transfer case for less than $1,000 shipped, and I started to have issues with the axle. Wasn't sure what it was at the time, but it felt "loose". It was also pouring gear oil out of the passenger side. Noticed about a week or two ago that when I spun the pinion, the passenger side CV axle would move upwards before it would spin. Overall I just felt weird about the swap.

The other day when I went to pop the passenger side CV axle out of the diff, the entire inner axle came out with the cv axle. It turns out the clip on the end of the inner axle broke, which is why the inner axle was so loose. I have no idea when the clip broke, but the inner axle didn't come out when I popped the cv axles at the junkyard so It's just weird.

I'm just glad it's out and I'm back to lift spindles. I feel better about the truck now too.

Looks good all double lifted n ****. Are you gonna lift the rear more or leave it? I kinda like the bro stance you have going right now. Maybe raise the rear a couple inches.

Well that's too bad. I probably spent at least 1000 for my trans and level II transfer case way back when I did mine. And had to pay a premium for that ultra rare tailhousing too. It was worth it to me though and the truck ended up being way more fun. Still glad I did it, but if you feel better about it in the end then great! Looks really good double lifted anyway.

Thanks Sam! I just added lift shackles yesterday to bring the rear up some more. Looks better now.

I rarely off-road the truck anymore, so the 4x4 swap was pointless anyway. I donated the axle to a guy who makes benefit car show trophies out of old car parts, so it went to a good cause. lol.

And thanks!

Yep. I've got one already painted, but I'm lacking the motivation to paint the rest. It's on the list though.
