alrite i got a lil more done tonight. i got some more of the crossmembers ripped off and i got all the old exhaust ripped out. im basically redoing everything on this truck. now that the ttb pivot mounts are off i can lower the motor a few inches more to lower the center of gravity and to correct my driveshaft angles. I got the 208 in tonight too. i like this tcase its a lot more clocked down than the 231. and its alot beefier. and i found out that a 11.5:1 compression race built motor is ment for 1 thing...breaking stuff that shouldnt break. ive gone thru 9 starters with this motor and today i fried my 5 month old optima red top. but the good of it is i traded it in for a yellow top so i guess its not all bad. anyways heres some pics.

I would think the Drag link will hit the springs if you do not do high steer.

yeah thats wat im thinkin too. unless i go with a superduty style drag link. the one with the S bend in it. idk yet. im really waiting to see how this axle deal pans out cuz i dont wana design something for one axle n then not use that one. but after looking at both of them theyre really similar axles. so i dont know.

yea i was guna say z but it didnt sound rite at the time. anyway heres a really shytty pic of 2 of my ideas for drag links. besides high steer is there any other ideas. keeping in mind that im not planning on driving her on the street very much anymore. and never on the freeway so stability at high speeds isnt a concern for me.

wow its only been a year without progress. theres just some points in time where you need to step back from your project and really reassess some of the decisions you made. well i finally got motivated to go out and get some work done on her. ive got the front end almost done. and when i say almost done i mean that its moveable yes but not wheelable. nothing is done yet. i have to finish weld and gusset everything. my front rear hanger is only welded on enough so i can get my truck on a trailer to get it to a buddys shop to get some serious work done on it. the motor and trans are out of it now. the old motor just wasnt big enough anymore. im goin with a 383 stroker now and either a 700r4 or th350. the rear is nowhere near done. i just got a handle on some new style 1500 springs and shud be getting them this weekend. thatll help a bit. and as always the i know the 10 bolts are completely useless. theyr just to get the truck around. i finally got a 14bolt FF for her. still looking for a dana 60 tho. well heres some pics of how she sits now.

this is still sitting on 35s. since these pics were took i cleaned up and painted the frame and front end and modified the bumper and got it back on. ive obviously got alot of work to do yet. i have
steering
gusseting
rear suspension
motor, trans, driveshafts
remove the airbags
battery relocation
massive rewiring
barkes
snorkel
get decent axles.

but hey its getting there. well thanks for any comments and input.

why the chevy drivetrain? oh well....

if youre gonna do a 383 stroker you might as well skip the paperweight 700r4 and bypass that th350 also. go for the th400.

the fronts not sitting that high just cuz theres no motor in it. the rear end is just really low compared to the front. and ive discussed why a chevy drivetrain 100 times but if your asking why now its cuz its been a chevy drivetrain for the last 2 years. and i dont know about what trans im guna go with. i can still use my built 700r4. and i dont really need 4 gears. which is why i didnt really lean towards the th400 to much. and it takes so much power to turn one. it takes about 150 horse to turn a th400.

Just curiose, Why did you keep the hitch? Why not cut it out and weld your spring hanger onto that?

I'm not a mud guy, more rocks for me, so COG is an issue. So did you do that just to gain that much more lift in the front?
