I have vr6 strut mounts on the way. They should be here tomorrow.
So I have to take the suspension BACK off to install the new mounts. My old mounts we falling to pieces.

Im also ordering a shifter rebuild kit probably today. The bushings and spring holding my shift **** is shot.

Im also looking at a dual downpipe and exhaust manifold. This will give me some extra power.

lol.

VR6 strut mounts arrived. The vr6 mounts are a later mount, and last a lot longer than the earlier strut mounts. My old mounts are falling apart.

Beat some of the rear dent out today with a rubber mallet.

Put the car back on jackstands. Installed vr6 strut mounts.

8v intake manifold with a 2.0 dual downpipe is on the way (got it for nearly free)
The dual downpipe will open up the exhaust a little bit.

Front end sits slightly higher than rear. This is due to the VR6 strut mounts. I dont mind a bit about the higher front end. A minor sacrifice for MUCH better mounts that will last longer.

Its not SLAMMED like some of you were thinking, but it is about 2-3 inches lower.

The engine possibilities go pretty far.

Im honestly thinking of sticking with the 1.8l block.
Im not trying to build a super fast VW, just a fun little car.

I WILL be sanding it down and painting it (possibly) black or something.

Trust me, the paint is a lot worse than it looks.

Finally took the hood off.

Sanded it down, and took a flapper wheel to the rust.
Got all of the rust off, and primed it black.

Havnt done anything else special other than drive it.

I'm currently hoarding parts for a partial teardown.

Got a deal on some throttle bodies. Currently researching to see if I can make a 16v throttle body work with my engine.

New exhaust manifold and dual downpipe. Less restrictive exhaust.

And new shift linkage kit that can only be installed after exhaust is dropped.

Ripped out old shift linkage and installed USRT shift linkage kit and short shifter.

WOW what a difference. Cut the throw distance in half, and took all of the play out.
