Johnson's Race Build

Hey all, I am John from Boston, Ny a small town just south of Buffalo. A couple buddies and myself always love a project. We have been following a series called 24 Hours of Lemons, now those of you who are not familiar with this race I will give a short bit of detail. It is a race in which you must buy and build a vehicle with $500 or less. This budget does not include safety equipment, roll cage, wheels/tires, as well as a few other things.

We have been looking for some time now for a small pickup to do this race with. I am in no way shape or form calling a Ranger a Lemon, we picked this particular ranger due to the reliability of them, increasing our chances of doing well in the race. We have also chosen one due to the huge amounts of parts at a inexpensive price as to stick to our budget.

Our starting platform is a
1993 Ford Ranger
2.3L 5 speed
Single Cab Long Box
Odometer reads 79xxx
$500 price tag

Either myself or one of my team mates will update the log as much as possible.

We are parting out all of the interior due to race rules and making room for a roll cage, so if any one is looking for grey interior parts let me know everything is in great shape and i would be more than happy to take a picture for you.

Also the cap is for sale

Thanks for looking, feel free to comment!

- Johnson

Looks like a clean third gen you got there. Not bad for 500. Salvage yards are a great place to look for some parts. Rockauto and ebay are also two other great sites for parts, if you don't already know.

Going to turbo charge it, NOS, or swap in a different engine/transmission?

Down the road we are thinking about either a turbo or possibly a 302 swap. It has yet to be determined but I'm sure it will happen!
