1997 Ranger XLT with missing front end

Hey guys,

I would really like to get your oppinion on this truck. I've been looking at the 97 Ranger for a few days now and up until about an hour ago, I was the winning bidder. Someone raised the bid to $320. I thought it was a good deal, but it's going to cost atleast $700 to replace the front end and that's going with used parts and doing the work myself.
Read the whole add and let me know what you think.
The part where they said the transmission works but it needs rebuilt scares me and they also told me that the truck wasn't wrecked but if you look closely you can see that the front cross member on the frame is bent.

the link is somethign to do with rf. i have used my ebay links on this site with problems, but others just fine.

anyways, i don't see anything wrong with the frame. the crossmember you see in the front is supposed to be like that. don't ask why, that's how it is.

the trans is gonna run between $1000-1500 to rebuild.

the only reaon to buy that truck would be for parts. the time and labor to rebuild it would exceed anything you could buy.

You could find a 4x4 4.0 v6 for about 1500 depending on miles.

Thanks guys for helping me out with this ... I think Kyle hit the nail on the head.
The truck has 200,000 miles on it.
I think these people bought this truck for $1000 then took $1200 worth of parts off of it to put on their son's truck. They told me the reason they removed the front clip is because "They were fixing a truck up for their son" Someone ruined the paint job on the bed with a can of primer. Basically the winning bidder is buying two doors for $320.

plus a full interior, chassis, etc. the price is great in my opinion. would be a great base for a v8 swap and a 98+ front clip. lots of potential with it.

Yeah, it would have been worth 320 if I was buying it for a "parts truck" but I wanted to fix it up and that wouldn't have made any sense.

Ooooor...I could sell you my 96 front end which would motivate me to slap on a 2003 front end. Haha
