I am new to this forum, and I am hoping I can get some information. I have a 2000 Ford Ranger automatic transmission 4X4 with only about 60,000 miles on the engine. But, I live in Costa Rica and this is one harsh environment for vehicles. Anyway, the problem I'm having is that first gear does not appear to be working. The gear shifter will go into first, but the engine just revs and the truck doesn't move. Reverse and second work fine, and when you get up to speed in 2nd gear, you can put it into drive and drive will work. Drive just doesn't work to start moving because it starts with first gear.

We have just had the transmission rebuilt and everything replaced including the solenoid, but it is still doing it. Does anyone know about this? If anyone has any insight, I would sure appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
