2005 ranger the immobilizer problem

I sure hope someone can help. I have a 2005 Ford Ranger with a 4 L engine. I think I have a immobilizer problem, according to what I can find out 2005 did not have the PATS immobilizer system, I don’t know what it’s got, but it will not let me start my engine. I have had weird problems for years occasionally it would just not start while it was running good. I ordered two keys from eBay with chips with the intention of programming two more keys just in case mine was going bad but before trying to program them, I put one of them in there and tried to start the vehicle at that point it has locked me out will not start even with one of my original keys I have tried everything I could find on the Internet to reset it but nothing seems to help, I even disconnected the battery for 24 hours that didn’t help either before I figured out it was a a mobilizer problem I thought it might be the fuel pump so I was troubleshooting the fuel pump by disconnecting the emergency fuel shut off on the right side just to the left of the fuse panel. I jumpered across the connector hooked meters to and ground found the way it worked when you turn the key on it would give you 12 V then it would fall back to zero when you hit the key again it would go back to 12 V and the engine would start. Now that it is locked me up and won’t start if I look at the meter when I turn the key on, it goes to 12 V but instead of going back to zero, it falls back to 6 V and will not start while the engine is cranking. It does show 12 V but will not start Weird.

PS: This vehicle does-not even have a theft light on the dash, I even checked the manual and the manual doesn’t even show one.

I talked to the local dealership. They have no idea what to do.

If you tried to start it with an unprogrammed key, you likely triggered the PATS. You simply have to wait 1½-2 hours before using a programmed key.

in 2005 they did not use the pat system. They use something else and nobody seems to know what it is or how it works

I’ve waited two days and it still won’t start

You might have a similar system installed after-market. Or it was installed (based on the actual day of manufacture) just before Ford pulled them, or just after they resurrected it.

I purchased it new in 2005. It only has 27,000 miles on it so I haven’t used it a lot and I seem to have problems with it. Every few years the dealership don’t seem to know what to do they don’t normally work on anything that Old

I'd be looking for a more competent mechanic. A Ford dealership should be able to work on it.... after all, they're privvy to ALL of Fords' data.

Range 480 was very helpful with his information. I did get my problem fixed and programmed my keys after I got everything running in addition to the immobilizer problem the battery wire to the fuel pump and a bad connection

thank you Ranger 480
