dividing the forum into generations?

I'm new to the forum, but i've noticed quite an "unbalanced" membership.
Seems like all the threads mostly have to do with the newest gen Ranger (98-present)- understandably due to the ownership percentage. Honestly, i like this site a lot, but i feel sort of left out. Everyone's been cool, eager to help, but maybe this site could use a little polishing. Maybe even have specialized parts for 4x4s and 4x2s, also. Just an idea, not trying to p*** anybody off.

I dont think thats a good idea, cause then, the ones who dont really know much about the gen ranger, wouldnt even look at the topic, therefore, not getting any help..

Keep it where everyone will look at it, and help you out..

Just cause we dont own the same gen, doesnt mean we know nothing about it.

I honestly, would look at the forum, if it was divided that way

It's good to know what gen truck someone has when your read their posts. I used to have the year in my sig before, but not now.

I understand the point, but don't think specialized forums are necessary. Just my .02 -- I wouldn't be upset if they were made.

Wouldn't you worry about being even more left out? My concern would be that the site is predomanantly late model trucks. Those w/ early model trucks would be left lingering alone in fairly innactive sections. At least this way everyone reads the topic and can at least post an IIRC or a 'why don't you check here' type thing.. Just a thought..

Personally I'm a big fan of this site (and at one time GE before this site) BECAUSE it is mostly visited by late model truck owners. There's even at least one other guy on this site w/ the exact same truck as I (Bob/rwenzing-except for his nifty mods that is). But that's me..

And John, those of us that don't know you fairly well can certianly get a pretty good idea of what generation your truck is from the avatar.. but you've got those turned off, don't 'cha?!

most mods and etc can still apply to the older trucks...at least to my understanding...and the engines and suspension and stuff arent all that different...actually the older ones have it made due to the springs upfront instead of torsion bars...

unity is the key....

I think it's fine the way it's already devided up into Engine Tech. Any more diversion wouldnt get as much attention as the others. It's pretty well devided up at the moment and i wouldnt change it. just my two cents

it does seem like most people own newer trucks, but that's fine cause they still want to help people like me with an 87' ranger.
