No Insulting Question
I'm a little confused as to where the line is. To me outright repetetive insulting is inappropriate, but it seems that we are hardly able to disagree with people. When someone says something stupid and we make a joke about it, should we really be scared of getting banned or the thread being closed? I understand what you guys are trying to accomplish but it just seems like you expect everyone to treat everyone with kid gloves. We are adults and while degrading is inappropriate, throwing around an occasional insult doesn't seem like something that should be reprimanded.

I guess that's my point, I am questioning it. For examply, Katie's thread about lowering her truck... many of us made comments that it's more or less a joke, but is that really going to cause it to close? I just feel like the mods are being overzealous on the whole thing. I understand and agree with what you are trying to do but you can't prosecute someone just because you THINK they will commit a crime. It appears no individuals were banned but to me, if you close a thread it should be for the same reasoning you would issue a ban. Just simply disagreeing will cause the close of a thread because you think we will start insulting? I just think that's a little over-protective.

I mean in all honesty I was (<Still am.) afraid to post in this thread and say what I want to for fear of getting banned.

i think its all up to the moderators to use their discretion to determine if the poster is indeed being too aggressive and insulting toward another member. Its gotta be tough to be moderator... lol
I think some people forget that this is supposed to be ranger forums! sometimes I get caught up in an argument in the religious/political forums, but its kinda stupid really. I joined this site to get info about my truck... not pick fights with others because of thier opinion.

I really think it's a community of people who love their trucks! I came here to start doing meets... I don't really have a lot of truck related issues and very little advice... but I came here to talk to people that have similar interests... I was just pointing out that I think the mods were being TOO picky... ultimately it is up to them but it's also up to us to give them feedback

If things keep going the way there headed you'll never see the phrase "This thread delivers!" again.
I can understand that some people can't take a joke, but what about those of us who can take a joke and like to joke?

What many of you fail to realize is that we have our discussions in the mod forums, and PM's with other members that do have legitimate issues with some of what is going on.
I've given the mods the ability to use their discretion with this. I know a joke, and I know what is also downright wrong, joke or not, and I also know what's been going on for entirely too long.
Just like the kid being picked on in school, people get tired of it on here. And because some people can't play nice with each other, it has a tendency to escalate. Some people are inherently more confrontational than others. Others don't care one way or the other.
At the end of the day, this is a family site. While we don't have many members that are under 18, there are some. The constant belittle and berating of others makes us look bad.
At the end of the day, what the mods and admins decide to do with a thread stands. If they decide that it just needs to remain out of view, I'm cool with it. If one of them wants to take a thread that was moved out of view, clean it up, and move it back, that's cool too.
But, let me put it this way: If you want to disagree with someone, feel free. You don't need to insult them to do it.

Look at the total number of members and threads at R-F. About .00001% have moderator action taken. The ones that get are ALWAYS very obvious.
