Depends on if the 2000 4.0 is an OHV or a SOHC

Welcome to the forum

+1 ^^^

Ford used two 4.0l engines
4.0l OHV in 1990 to 2000 Rangers
4.0l SOHC used in 2001 to 2011 Rangers

4.0l SOHC was also used in 1997 Explorers and up

2000 4.0l OHV could easily be swapped into a 1991 Ranger 4.0l, you would need to swap over upper and lower intakes with injectors because they used different fuel systems, so a long block swap

4.0l SOHC would be much harder because of wiring issues, you would need a 4.0l SOHC engine wiring harness and computer, PATS bypass, add O2 after cat converter
