What did Christian do that was so great? neither you nor I was here when he was an active member of the site, so I dont see how or why you mis him so much.

Matt posted commentary in the mod section and asked to me removed from the staff. Zach and I both read it, I removed Matt as per his wishes.

Regardless of what is being said at this stage, I am ok with people believing whatever they want as it doesn't change the fact that he is no longer here.

Im pretty sure I have clicked the 'report' button on this thread twice. Both times I have left a nice discription as to why it should be removed (which shouldnt have been needed, its pretty obvious). The only point of the post is to sell a product, there is no tech info in the post.

You know the reason why it hasnt been deleted? Because they paid you money and you are afraid that if you delete it they will get upset and stop sending you the cash. It starts small and it grows.

The one thing that I miss that's changed recently is the blow-off valve forum. It really helped this place feel more like a community and less like another Ranger internet site. But, I'm told that there were some members that were taking it to the extreme and bashing other members, so it got taken away.

Which brings me to my next point - members: we are our own worst enemies. The mods would much rather just hang out and shoot the breeze with the rest of us, but we make them clean up after us because we're too stupid to act like adults. There are some things I don't like about the new site, like the bright colors and big ads before I get a chance to log in, but those can be changed (or blocked by my firewall ). What I do like is that this is BY FAR the most community-oriented forum I've ever been on, there is a ton of info on the site, tons of members willing to help, and it is NEVER down. If you don't like it... leave. But I've seen the other Ranger sites, and they aren't R-F. That's why we have people continually coming back after their bans expire.

In the 5 months I've been coming here, I've never seen the site down. It may have been at one time or another, but I lurk more than I post, and I'm in here relatively frequently. This site is darn stable. And that takes $$. So, it makes sense that Rick may need to sell ads to pay to run the site.

I could go further into the hypocrisy of folks who for the most part advocate on a political basis the concept of the right for businesses to make a reasonable profit; yet expect that a site that they get tremendous value out of be run completely revenue neutral, but I won't be that guy.

Rick, Zach, Shane, Jacob, Scott, Jason, and all the other staff and mods that I missed - thanks for the work you do. Running a site is a lot of work, and it seems that you guys do a good job striking the right balance between good cop and bad cop most of the time.

and yes, that is coming from a contributor, who doesnt even have a ranger anymore. i ABSOLUTELY earned my 15 dollars with with everything that i learned from this site...

i'm not a fan of the advertising, but i can live with a certain amount. especially if it's based towards a ranger owner and not just some dumb random $h!t like weightloss or puppies and kitties.

I understand that some are upset over the recent changes in the site, but why make it worse by causing unnecessary trouble? There is nothing good that will come out of it. It is one thing to offer constructive criticism, but it's another to just be flat out cynical. Nothing is ever perfect, why worry about an internet forum that goes away when you close your internet browser?

I have no problem with the way R-F is run.

The only thing I'm partly sketchy on is the real story about Matt (FireRanger). You claim he asked to be removed and he says he was booted. Now possibly he created that story to rile up people here on R-F. Whatever the case, I just wish everyone could tell the truth like adults.

Rick and Zach, keep up the good work. I've been happy with the sites progress recently. I value the information on here and I know it helps out a lot of the Ranger community whether it's a contributor, a normal member, or someone else.

Other mods and admin, thank you. I've been a member here since I got my truck back in May 2005. It's been an extremely helpful site for mods and general information.

Why do you feel that way? Because there are ads. I am not denying the site needs to recoup money, the site cost money. The design, functionality additions do cost money. Not pretend money, real cash. I would like the site to break even one day.

0RangerEdge2, the problem with the majority of what I say is a very few people counter that im not being honest. Matt asked to be removed, Zach himself read it on his own machine. But it doesnt matter. Matt says we are now both lying and trying to hide it from the masses. Why do people think I would hide it? I have already said to people in chat and here, think what you want, end result is the same and it won't change. It is just becoming old, well, already old last week :p I will leave it at believe what you want and i'm ok with that :p

that ORW kits bs, $732 bucks for USELESS torsion keys and shocks?? You can achieve the same lift by cranking the t-bars FOR FREE (even if you buy the keys from somewhere else they're no where near that expensive), and guess what, you don't need longer shocks to do that. That kit is a complete scam, and yet its still there. Not to mention a stock ranger, especially with keys/cranked t-bars, won't notice much of a difference, the might as well spend $100 on bilstiens.


And the stickers, years ago when i Joined you got stickers included in the membership price, since then the price has gone up and now you're are charging more for the stickers? I could care less about them, but still.

How did this site survive for the first 5 years it was around without ads? Oh yeah all the people that paid to be contributors, which are still paying to be contributors. We didnt need ads for the first 5 years why do we need them now?

 

 

Contributors only see authorized vendors, which is 2.

5 years ago this site didn't get 30 new members a day and tons of traffic. We could toss the site on a hostgator box for $1.99 a year, drop all the ads, even stop taking contributor funds and this site will never, ever function again properly.

This site requires some server jam to work well. It costs.

That all aside, as I have said about 4 times in this thread, taking the site off the previous owners hands did cost money. There was an initial investment of funds. I would like those funds recouped

Supporters like you and malydeen only see the 2 authorized vendors which is 1 banner location in the top right.

 

Works for me. I know I'll catch flack for saying this, but I never cared much for FireRanger anyhow. He was never professional as I thought a moderator should be and he often added fuel to pointless arguments and disagreements.

Also, I wasn't trying to say anyone was at fault or trying to hide anything. I'm just stating the two stories I had heard. I believe more that he asked to be removed, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. :)

 

i was gonna say this. this site didn't move this quick last year or when i joined. i remember the site down once a week or every other week for repairs. now it moves much quicker. we all can see that. if i have to scroll past a few ads, so be it.

 

The few posts I read of his when he was a Moderator did not seem fitting for his title. I completely agree with you on that.

As for the rest of you arguing with Rick, i'm noticing a trend. It seems to be the people that always "stick" together and have that FTP attitude. Seriously guys, what gives?
