Putting 4.0 engine from 07 explorer ina 03 ranger4x4 both auto.trans.Got the converter bolts in but the engine will not pull up lacks about one inch what could be wrong???????? Got the engine in for the fourth time lacks about 1/2 inch mating up when tighting bolts it will lock up engine when you try to turn at the crank.worked on putting toque in bell housing got it to click in we’re it sets about 1 inch inside the bell housing I am about to go crazy something is off some we’re but cannot find out what HELP AGAIN THANKS IN ADVANCE

 

Your torque convertor is not properly seated into the transmission.

Unbolt the the torque convertor from flex plate and slide transmission away from engine,

You need to get torque convertor into the transmission farther, DO NOT try forcing it using the transmission bolts, you WILL end up breaking the front pump of the transmission and the need a full rebuild.

 

Maybe to late...for the pump and the torque convertor.
