Where did it go? With the portal being gone this was the quickest way for me to see the latest threads.

Is there more updating going on?

Also, when updates do happen that can effect the usability of the site, can we get a heads up?

the sidebar is literally all i used to see new threads. I really couldn't care less whose birthday it is.

 

Since Last Visit still does the same thing. The difference is that now the forum pages are not scaled down.

 

Are we not bringing back the bottom of the portal that had the recent classified ads?

idk how much I like these updates. Took me a big to figure **** out on here since I have been off for a week or so. Why have all the useless crap like birthdays on here? Just streamline everything...

 

Why do new phones come out every year? Because things change.

The portal has everything that is going on with the site. If you don't like to see all of that stuff there is always the Since Last Visit option or if you don't like that either you can scroll through each forum. And if you don't like that either you can just view you currently active threads or threads you've posted in. There are a lot of options for viewing the site to accommodate everyone.

Why does the title of the thread get cut off as early as it does on the portal screen?

THats just a setting issue. Can probably be fixed easily.

 

Not really. And I don't want to have to click another link, sidebar was always there to draw me into a new thread, and see it bump to the top. Now if I want to see if there have been updates I have to go back to that page every time. I don't have time to click through every forum, so I just check my user CP to see threads I'm already subscribed to. And this is 2012, everyone should have high enough resolution where "scaling" shouldn't be an issue.
No, things change, because new phones come out every year. You've got it backwards. And it's a money making tactic, i'm sure you know that. Same reason there's a new call of duty game every year, when they've been using the same game engine since 2005.

Not me. You were the one who had said in an earlier thread regarding some other change, "why change what has been in place for years that everybody knows"?
Sidebar worked fine and was useful to me and others, easy access, and I liked it. Change is good but change for the sake of change is not.

 

The sidebar has not been around for years if my memory serves me right. It was fairly new still.
