Welcome to the forum
No B2000 in 1998, B2500 or B3000 or B4000 in North America
Yes, Rangers and B-series used same engines in the same years, and almost all vehicle parts are interchangeable.
Mazda use the number after the B to denote engine size, i.e. B2500 would have 2.5l(2500cc) engine, B3000 would have 3.0l(3000cc) engine, ect.....
2.5l Lima engine was used in Rangers and B2500 from 1998 to 2000, in mid year 2001 Ford and Mazda switch to the 2.3l Mazda L engine, so B2300, Ford called it 2.3l Duratec engine
