Spammers
Gang,
I'm starting to block large ranges of IP addresses originating from overseas.
This is in effort to help combat the spam problem, but it's only a matter of time before it's IP's originating in North America (and there are a few of those that I've blocked as well).
We're working on addressing the issue, however please continue to do what you've been doing, and that's report them.
Moderators: Please do not delete the threads. Simply move them to a moderator forum until I can do what I need to with them. Then I'll delete the thread.
Thanks!

Couple questions Sk0t..
I've had a LOT of jobs this past week dealing with spam and DOS incidents. Theres a few nice programs that ' trap ' by hedder information out there. I dunno if you have shell/r00t here, but if you do, theres some counter-measures that can be used.
spamhaus.org is on your side as well. spl/xbl their sorry *****.
How about an authentications process for first time posters, mandated reply by mail then need a mods approval for validation? If they have to reply by mail, SMTP will give their REAL IP, not a proxy

That said, I am seeing a lot of similiar issues with SMTP spam though. I use spamhaus at a client site I'm at, in addition to the firewall provided spam filtering, in addition to Microsoft's IMF. There's still quite a bit that gets through. The spam fighting technologies simply can't keep up.
Good question about the authentication process for first time posters. I'll have to look into that. It may be possible, but I'm honeslty not too sure. It may be possible to moderate all users with 50 posts or less. I'd have to do some digging.. Which won't be happening for a couple of days yet, sadly..
