Great pic.....a great laugh.

the "view topics since your last post" feature, lately its been of a VERY short expiration, like I would look at a topic, and then when I go back to see other posts, it says that no other topics have been meeting my critiera, is this just a problem with the site, or my computer? anyone else gettin this right away?

"view topics since last posts"

Apparently to do with the move to a new server for the site. Happenned on mine too.

FoMoCoFiddy 08-02-2004 11:36 PM

i logged out, and logged back in, and it was fine for me

mental ambiguity 08-02-2004 11:37 PM

I'm going to be moving this, but it does have to do with that. Try cleaning out your cookies, that should help. But, it will be like this for a couple of days, probably until the server move is complete.

I have my "favorite" shortcut pointing to that link, and when viewing the threads, I just open a new window for each topic. Then I work my way down the "view topics since my last visit" page. No refreshing issues at all that way.

you guys wanna know something...

that option isn't even standard on php...

we had to add it...

i dunno what i would do without it.. lol

it is necessary

Mnemonic 08-03-2004 08:52 AM

I live by it too, but I wonder if that link could be added to the header on every thread? After making a reply, it would be nice to jump straight from a thread back to the "last topic" list. Just another "nice to have"

mental ambiguity 08-03-2004 09:26 AM

That may be possible, but I'm not going to look into it until after the server move. So you may have to remind me.

Trevelyn1015 08-03-2004 09:27 AM

it is at the top of every thread, michael...

we added it to the top right of every thread...

mental ambiguity 08-03-2004 09:29 AM

*Puts foot in mouth.* Duh.. So it is. :)

There are times when I would like to be able to search for all post titles from all forums back to a certain point in time - for example, 12 hours back. I would need to be able to do it without specifying an author or a keyword. I tried to figure out how to do this without success. Is it impossible or am I missing something?

mental ambiguity 12-05-2004 03:54 PM

Basically, you're looking for something like how GE does it, correct? We'll look into it, and see what we can come up with.

Yeah, that is at times handy too! I like that feature.

I was about to suggest what I did on occasion on the 'old' site, which is to do a search for '*'. Basically this returns all threads listed in order of age. Unfortunately the 'new' search engine won't let me do this anymore! I often used this if I had logged in and somehow logged out (say I checked a post and then closed the window) and then logged back in again. On the second login, it shows that there are no new posts.

Any chance of having it so the search feature allows searching for '*'??

mental ambiguity 12-07-2004 02:08 AM

I'll look into that as well as soon as I get a chance. Going to be swamped this week, and possibly this weekend. Will see what I can do. Or, Christian and Michael can look into it, and if it's something easy they can do it. Otherwise, fi they're not sure of themselves, I'll look into it this weekend.

Take your time man, no worries..

Trevelyn1015 12-15-2004 09:39 AM

i just did the closest mod i could find to what people want all the time... the "view topics since x amount of time"...

it only works, though, on a forum x forum basis...

here is what it looks like:

http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/attac...chmentid=19165

you can check it out by going to any forum...

i am working on figuring out a way to make it work on the "new posts" page... just give me time...

oh... cuz you aren't a member there...

just go to [off topic] and scroll down to the bottom... then you will see display options...
