What happened to the thing above the newest threads?

That shop manual thing. Its gone. Also I noticed the contributor badges are different.

01RangerEdge 05-21-2012 09:15 AM

I noticed the badges changing last night.

I didn't notice the manual was gone until you said something

SteelDirigible 05-21-2012 09:16 AM

I don't like them. ibtl.
I don't think they look as nice.

morris 05-21-2012 09:19 AM

I noticed the manual gone last week but didn't say anything. I like the text on the contributor but the two shades of grey next to each other don't look right.

SteelDirigible 05-21-2012 10:25 AM

it needs some sort of a border on it. that would really help.

dixie_boysles 05-21-2012 11:13 AM

The site was sold, so Im assuming alot of things are changing. I actually like the badges better, they fit the site theme much better.

morris 05-21-2012 11:19 AM

Yea, I figured Scott. However that manual was helpfull and this site is about that. Why remove it? Unless they plan to upgrade.

98liftedranger 05-21-2012 11:28 AM

The badges do fit the theme better and we are always open to new ideas. If you want to design a badge and submit it feel free.

I am not sure on the manual though. I didn't notice it and am on my phone at work now so I can't check into it. Kris will probably comment soon.

SteelDirigible 05-21-2012 11:35 AM

i'll modify a badge tonight. probably just add a border because I think it needs it.

It may have been something that the rights belonged to Rick, I dk lol

morris 05-21-2012 11:50 AM

Maybe. Now that's it's gone the spot looks bare.

RazorsEDGE 05-21-2012 11:51 AM

We are going for a simpler, sleeker look with the badges. As Adam said don't be afraid to submit a badge if you feel you have a good idea. You guys will notice some changes over the next few weeks.

dixie_boysles 05-21-2012 12:09 PM

I do agree that if you keep the current design, they need a slight border (thin black line or something) to separate them. When you have a mod/admin badge over a contributor badge, they look like one big badge

01RangerEdge 05-21-2012 12:20 PM

I agree on the border

morris 05-21-2012 12:36 PM

I don't know how to do any of that stuff but a thin pencil line would look better. You guys with double badges could roll them into one or something with one large rf from top to bottom instead of two separate rf's on top of each other.

It's easier to add badges to users then to have to make new ones when people have multiple badges. If that makes sense. I don't know if I'm explaining it the way I want to lol.

SteelDirigible 05-21-2012 12:47 PM

make the badges part of a ranger. the more badges you have, the more they add up to a pic. you just have to have them arranged in a certain order.

you know, like a puzzle.

morris 05-21-2012 03:07 PM

Why not make them look like 06+ fender badges? Having them say "level 1" "2", or "3". "mod" "admin".

01RangerEdge 05-21-2012 09:25 PM

I like the border, but could it be slightly thinner so it doesn't touch the text? I don't know what goes into so I just though I'd suggest it

SteelDirigible 05-21-2012 09:27 PM

hm. you're a "supporter". I'm just a contributor.

edit: it just changed

01RangerEdge 05-21-2012 09:28 PM

When they update the badge, the individual members only get updated when they post after the change

KLC 05-21-2012 09:36 PM

The badges will all change to the new version with time. I have forced an update to do so.

As for the border, it will touch the text for the supporter badges unless I make them bigger. The idea was to streamline the look (make them smaller and not as busy) so that defeats the purpose. I am still doing final touches though.

The vin decoder and owner's manual link on the side was Rick's image and apparently he removed it from his server. I will remove the link when I get a chance. At some point, I will make a new image link.

KLC 05-21-2012 09:55 PM

Stay tuned, supporter badges will change so the text is larger and not touching the border.

Not to sound like an idiot but what was the "thing above the newest threads" I don't remember what this was??? Everything looks basically the same other than the supporter stuff to the left. ????

Just curious.
