Does anything electrical work? IE: the radio, headlights, 4-way flashers?

+1 ^^^^

Also "turn over" means different things to different people

"Doesn't start" usually means starter motor works to spin the engine but engine doesn't fire up
"Doesn't turnover" usually means starter motor won't turn the engine

2006 Ranger has PATS(passive anti-theft system)
There is a THEFT light on the dash that will flash rapidly with Key ON, if PATS has disable starter motor and fuel system

If automatic transmission then there is a "neutral switch" to prevent starting in gear, try shifting to N(neutral) on the shifter and see if starter motor works, if so the shift cable may be loose so can't start in P until its tightened

Manual trans has a clutch pedal switch, clutch pedal must be down all the way to activate starter motor

Thanks, The starter does not run. The starter was just replaced 2,000 or 3,000 miles ago. As far as PATS the truck is not home I will have to check tomorrow. Thank you

Bad battery.
Poor electrical connection.
Faulty starter relay.
Electrical issue in ignition in column.

Is it an automatic?
If so did you try starting in neutral

My guess is the "new" starter motor is bad
Some have had to go thru 3 or 4 to get one that lasts, under warranty of course
"They don't make them like they used to"

Same applies to "new" alternators

RonD asked if it was automatic. I will ask, "Is it stick" If it is, I have hell with mine because I have to really stomp the clutch thru the floor sometimes to engage the start switch.
