Tapatalk is an awesome app I use to connect to some of my other forums from the iPhone. Would love to Ranger Forums in the app as well. It's free for the forum owner to add their forum.

I agree! But the owner wants to have more user input. He doesnt feel it is right for the user to pay to have the mobile app. I bought it for another forum but I feel that is the case for most iphone users.

So if anyone is also interested make a post! See if we cant get it added.

Yes ipod touch is supported just as iphone is. I think they have a nokia app as well, and they are working on an android app

 

I had this same issue convincing an admin at one of my other boards, one that I frequent more than any of the dozens that I am a part of.

My suggestion was simply that, what can it hurt? It would take the admin 10-15 mins at most, your forum is in the app in less than 24 hours. Sure it costs the users $3. But it doesn't cost the admin anything and for us users that are willing to pay the $3 (honestly you can save $3 by ordering of the value menu at lunch one day) it's awesome. I just started using it at some other sites and ilove it! I wish all my forums were available in it. They also have a read only version, so people can test it out before buying, and I believe that is free.

That said, if the owner was really adamant about not doing tapatalk whatsoever, at least a iphone or even a mobile style would be great. There are some premade styles over at the vbulletin forums that are designed just for the iphone, as well as other mobile platforms.

Yea, that is on my agenda really. Ive been on a BB for over 5 years, its horrible compared to the iPhone for sure. Hard to believe the iPhone could be improved.

I will look into sourcing the mobile skin in the next few weeks again.

I already have the app paid for. I use it on 4 other forums right now and its so handy.

Now I can surf r/f without a problem on my iphone. It works even better if you turn off avatars and signatures.

True but isn't turning avatars/sigs off a profile based option and not a cookie based option. meaning that if you do want to see avatars and signatures on your computer, but not on your phone, you would have to basically turn it on and off through the options every time?

 

Yeah that is the negative side affect. I wonder if Tapatalk works with the mod/admin side of the forum too? Hmm

 

I do not believe it has mod console built in, but I could be wrong.

edit: nevermind, its 3.00 on the android market too. thats not cool.

i vote to just make a mobile version of the site. slimmed down with basic colors, allow options to show pics or not.

 

Something for the Blackberry would be nice:)

 

So will tapa talk for the iPhone and other smartphones be activated? I bought the app and ranger forums isn't there? I know it's free to enable or whatnot but is there a specific reason why this awesome app isn't enabled? I'm using iPhone as we speak to post this and it takes ages.

Since we have a custom mobile site probably not. Its a bummer, I wish it was. Become a contributor and you'll get access to the mobile site, which is actually pretty darn good on my iPhone.

yeah we will not be going with tapatalk. at least no time in the future. even larger sites such as PSN dont run tapatalk. from my understanding too many security risks and it leaves open holes for other things. We cant control it as easily as well.
