just wondering...i live out in a rural area...hopeing to pick up a few extra bars....

anyone tried them?

RangerEdgeO2 09-04-2005 01:07 PM

From what I have read on some cell phone forums, they are just as good for cell phones as the tornado is for our trucks...aka they are worthless.

TippnOver 09-04-2005 01:14 PM

eh crap

but i picked up like 89 hp and 56 mpg with my tornado!

FireRanger 09-04-2005 01:20 PM

Usless. Pointless. Scam.

I had one and it sucked. I HEAR that it wll actually void your warranty on your phone of you take it into your carriers store with it on.

It may have been just coincidence but the phone i put it on took a **** not long after...

FireRanger 09-04-2005 04:43 PM

It won't void anything. It doesn't actually DO anything. It would be like putting a mickey mouse sticker on the phone.

not to question your credibility, but how do you know that? just out of curiosity...

TippnOver 09-05-2005 12:01 AM

man, word at my local cell phone provider is that mickey mouse has been proven to boost signals up to three times the normal rate...

a goofy sticker is in the works, that wont be availible until 2008 though...they're working with NASA...they expect full digital signal from your house to Mars....

albertaredneck 09-05-2005 12:57 AM

the only ones that work are ones that actually mount in a vehicle with a booster modual. can convert a .5 watt phone to 3 watts

Well, other than logic and common sense, it is simply a matter of the fact that the device is nothing. It does nothing. it is not physically attached to any of the phone's circuits. You could put 100 of them on the phone and other than looking dumb, it wouldn't do anything. You can not void a warrenty because of that and I would challenge any phone company to try and see how far they get with me... not that I would put one of them on my phone to begin with...

do thoes cell phone antennas work that attach on to ur glass?

tideguyinva 09-05-2005 08:00 AM

Sam Scam Scam

FireRanger 09-05-2005 08:58 AM

The ones that have an antenan outside the glass and an antenna inside the glass, not really. Those are an attempt at making a passive repeater, but that kind of application is useless. All you gain is an antenna sticking off the window that doesn't do anything but look wierd.

Now, if that antenna had a wire going to the phone, that is different. Those work wonders. If you really want to kick but, get the 3 watt bi-directional amplifier and you'll have the power of one of those old bag phones.

TippnOver 09-05-2005 09:23 AM

ah..cool deal

thanks all

how would i get the amplifier for the phone though...? would it be included with the antena?

FireRanger 09-05-2005 09:37 AM

You can get just the antennas and wire. You can get just the amp. Or I've seen package deals out there. Expect to pay around $200 for the amplifier package, I think.
