Flex-a-Lite 15" Black Magic fan

Got the fan installed about 3 weeks ago now. Proper tools make a difference thanks for the advice from those who imparted their wisdom and tool-ness.

Anyway the fan is AWESOME...comparable in noise to a standard FWD car's factory installed fan. Cooling is SUPERIOR, I made a mark on my gauge cluster where it used to be before electric. It is now about 1/8" lower...of course with our idiot C----H gauge it probably doesn't mean anything BUT fuel economy is up substantially. I'd say 15% so far and thats in HOT summer weather with a lot of A/C use.

Have to get the tires rotated and balanced and change my oil so we'll see if that improves it even more.

Install took about 4 hours including modifications, of course, to the "instruction PAGE" and I went the extra mile and wire loomed and tied everything up nice.

Well worth the $220 if it lasts the life of the vehicle...fuel savings will pay for it in that time for sure.

Glad to hear it! I've always wanted an e-fan. Just another thing to tack onto the endless list of mods, haha.

it didnt take long to do it on ryans, but for future reference, proform has the EXACT SAME FAN for $125

TippnOver Jul 18, 2005 09:28 AM

wow!

how long/hard of an install is it?

i'd like to do that, but i'm scared the fan would crap out on me without my knowledge and overheat

I have the Proform as well. FYI if you get it and hot air is blowing out the front you need to change the black and green wires (i think). basically it reverses the fan so it sucks air in and not blows air out

SoundPer4mance Jul 18, 2005 09:48 AM

haha brent its easy, we can do it at a meet

TippnOver Jul 18, 2005 09:57 AM

sweet!

now i need to get one

SonicRanger001 Jul 22, 2005 12:04 AM

Wow...that always happens. You think you get a good deal on something and then someone comes along as tells you otherwise.

Oh well I'm TOTALLY satisfied with my purchase.

As far as the install goes it probably took me about 3 hours of actual work.
However it was HOT as hell and I had to modify a few things to fit my anal retentive needs to it took a total of 6 hours from start to finish. That includes wire looming every new wire, adjusting the thermostat to kick on at the right temp, modifying the bracket to fit around my K&N Filtercharger.

I highly recommend it to anyone who has the means to get one. The electric fan is FAR superior to the standard, its quieter IMO, saves gas and runs only when needed. SO in the winter time, up here in Ohio anyway, I doubt it will run much at all...which is better on the engine and on my gas tank. The only reason why auto manufacturers don't use them is cuz they cost too much money!!! Its WAAAAAY cheaper to put a $5 piece of plastic and a $6 clutch directly to the engine than it is to add extra wiring, parts and labor.

What's the CFM on that fan???

Thanks man! Should get off my ass and pull my out as well...

The one on my 3.0 was nice, really cooled the truck off and helped with my 18mpg on 33's:)

Can't wait to get the dual fans installed on the F-150. Just gotta get home and to Bob's house.

SoundPer4mance Jul 22, 2005 05:56 PM

yeah i just got mine installed today, $120 for 5000 CFM

When are we going to see pictures? I'm kinda interested in how these mount.

Any problems with idle cooling performance in traffic with the A/C on? Also what model for flexa lite and profrm are they?
