A while back I found out my roof drip rail moldings came off and were stuck back on with glue.
So I ordered new ones from Ford and I ordered plastic adhesive promoter, one can of Harvest Gold base paint and one can of clear coat.
These products came from Automotive Touch up website they offer spray rattle cans and other paints to help save your paint job.
I called Ford and they wanted $300 dollars just to paint these small drip rail moldings plus they wanted extra to blend the paint into the roof and cab.

Today I prepped and painted my moldings and installed one of them and I can tell you I am very pleased with the results.

I did two coats of the adhesive promoter over the drip rails after sanding with 1k grit sand paper.
I did four light coats of the base paint and three wet coats of the clear coat.

All the products went on as if I had used a real spray gun.

The clear coat is perfectly smooth no wet sanding or polishing needed.

I will mention the clear coat spray can was shipped without a ball bearing , which made me worried that the clear may give me problems.

I called the company and they assured me this sometimes happens and they were willing to send me a new can, yet they also told me anyone that received a can without a ball bearing inside didn't have a problem using the clear coat.

Luckily the clear coat went on nice and smooth but I did shake the can for ten minutes before use just in case.

Anyways I am pleased my micro project and will be using this product to blend other areas I want to repair like the tail gate.

I will post pictures of those other areas when I am ready to tackle those jobs.

For now I am just posting what I have done.

How much did you pay for the cab corner moldings? I ordered some off ebay last week that should be delivered today and i was shocked to see how expensive they were. I wasnt planning on painting them but after seeing your pics i may.

Hi sorry I have been gone for a while, I am pretty sure I purchased mine off of eBay as well, yet I think they were about 40 bucks each I will double check where and how much I paid for them.

 

Update to my review.

My painted parts still looked great after all this time.

Since my back window developed or had a water leak plus my truck was getting trashed outside because my wife's new car forced the Ranger outside.

I purchased a truck cover for about $175.00 with shipping.

I cleaned my truck and dried it before putting the cover on.

It sat in the Florida sun and rain for about a week with this cover on, until yesterday when the lawn crew came by to cut my yard.

While taking the cover off, I found out that the soft fuzzy protective layer of the cover stuck to my painted parts like I had just painted them.

Now my once nice shiny painted parts look like I purposely glued fur to them.

I tried everything to get it off with no luck, the finish is ruined.

I can only blame the lack of the ball bearing in the clear spray can.

Yet it makes me wonder if this paint just will not harden up like real automotive paint.

All I can say is at this point. You get what you pay for.

After this I can no longer recommend this product.

 

We have an outfit in town that computer matches your paint and puts it in rattle cans for about that price. It works outstandingly well.

 

Man, that's too bad about the cover messing up your work. You might try going over it with a cloth and rubbing compound, maybe clear it back up, I dunno. I have a fender in need of painting, same color, so am looking for do-it-myself paint for it. I'm no pro body man for sure. Just trying to maintain transportation is all I can do, much less build a show truck. I wish... :D

I've been hoping to find a left fender for my '99 that was in my color, the same light gold, so I don't have to paint it or go around spotted. :D If yall know where one is lemme know.
