Your opinions on this tuner

Hi guys,

I came across this Flashpaq tuner Superchips FlashPaq Tuners - Best Price on Superchips FlashPaq for Jeep, Chevy, Dodge & Ford Power Programmers and it looks like what I want but you all seem very knowledgeable and honest so I am seeking your opinions.

I'm not looking for the absolute max power I can squeeze from my 4.0 necessarily since I'm pretty happy with its bawls right now, but one thing I'm hoping for is better shift performance than the stock 'don't spill my caramel drizzle with an extra shot of skim when you shift' behavior that it has now. Remember the old days when we had downshift cables or linkages and as soon as you got on the gas it'd jump back a gear and take off? The ECU shift seems lazy, like almost a second wait till it kicks down. I hope a performance tune will help that. If you have any other advice to improve shifting I'd love to hear from ya. Thanks all!

I used to own a Superchips Cortex, but I now use a SCT X4. The Superchips tuner left a lot to be desired. Very happy with my SCT.

I got mine from More Power Tuning. If you buy a tuner from them, you can get 3 free custom tunes instead of just the cookie cutter ones you'll get with Superchips.

They usually work with Mustangs, F150s, and Fusions (which is why you won't see Ranger options on the site), but they did an excellent job with all of the work I needed done on the Ranger. I'd give them a call and see what they can do for you.

Great info and I'm already on their site checking things out. Did you find the shifting is more responsive too? Actually, you're running a Stroker so that's a whole different ballgame. Love it, and if I saw it or rode in it I'd be spending serious amounts of green on mine but I better not. You must have a ball though.

Yeah, I'm definitely on a different playing field than most right now, but I had the Superchips back when I had the stock 3.0L. I switched to the SCT when I did the swap because I had to have custom tuning done.

The Superchips tuner I had basically had 3 cookie cutter tunes (stock w/ options, performance, and towing if I remember correctly). The only thing you could really "customize" was putting in larger tire sizes or a different gear ratio to allow your speedometer to read correctly. I believe there was also an option to play with transmission shift settings, but I never noticed much difference.

Yeah your beast is B.A. bro, the things awesome. I'm pretty happy with the power the 4.0 has (b more fun if it was a stick though) and that was the deciding factor when I bought it. The other small trucks I test drove didn't have the sack this one did so she came home with me .

The Cortex works well for me. (I have Justin's old one) tire size is odd, but my speedo is correct. The improved shift points are better, and you can make them a little stiffer. I've been using the performance tune on my 3.0 and it's.......... okay.
