Icon14 PayPal

Just wanted to give a thumbs up to paypal's customer service..

i bought something on ebay over the summer for a few hundred dollars... long story short, the item wasn't as described at all... asked the seller what he wanted to do... offered to send it back for a full refund, no harm, no fail, but he didn't want to do anything... basically said screw off, and that was that.

so... i filed a dispute.. the seller raised it to a claim... paypal kept me updated and explained that itll take upwards of a month or so... i get an email asking to send it to a third party for their inspection.. once they get it, they'll decide, and blah blah blah... so i do. about a week later, i get an email from paypal saying they're in my favor....

they're going to refund me the full amount from the seller. the seller only had about 2/3's of the amount available for them to freeze and send to me, so they explain that they'll send the rest once they get it from him.

after the seller sees that he lost, and that his money was taken, he filed an appeal. this was on sept 6...

i was never notified of this... for some reason, as it was explained to me just now on the phone, they then favored in the sellers favor, and decided not to send me the last 1/3 of my money.

for the hell of it, i look at paypal tonight to see what the deal is with my claim, only to see on the site that it was settled and closed... confused by thiis, i call customer service, and explain my situation...

the first lady i talked to went through the entire case history with me, and basically apoligized over and over again, but said there really wasn't anything she could do for me, and that i was basically screwd out of the rest of my money..

right then i asked her politely if there was someone else i could talk to about this, and explained that i'm not angry with her at all becuase i know she has absolutely nothing to do with this, so she puts me on with her supervisor.

he was a polite guy, gave me the same run down... and also apoligized for the fact that i was never sent any explaination of why it was settled, or that it was even settled at all. with that, he put me on hold for a couple of minutes... came back on, and told me he was going to refund the balance to my account for me.

although it wasn't fair for me, i do know that they didn't have to refund me anything since it is stated all over their policy's and claims, etc....

so for them to refund me the money, all while being very polite and apoligetic (i can't spell anything), i am pleased with thier customer service.

Paypal is the only way I will ever pay for something on eBay. Lucklly no one has screwed me over yet. Glad to hear you got you money back.

Someone tried to get into my account one time and they froze it. After a few questions my account was working again. I would have to say I think Paypal is awesome.

My buddy was burned HARDCORE by paypal. It went so far as getting the FBI involved in order to get his money back...

My buddy sells engines, or atleast he used to, on Ebay, anyways, he sold an engine and shipped it to the guy, then, left town for a couple days for a family emergency, while he was gone the buyer refused the engine, asked for a rfund, filed a dispute with paypal, he didnt have the funds in his acct to cover the refund, so paypal MAXED out his over draft on his primary checking account to cover the 'refund'

Welp my buddy not knowing all this went down, came home wrote some checks thinking he had money in his acct, they bounced. Thats when he found out about the problem. The shipper ended up charging my buddy $25 a day to 'store' the engine, for 3 weeks, and when he went to the bank to explain what was up, the bank suggested he contact the authorities, so he filed a complaint with the FBI about it since it was CLEARLY unauthorized, and long story short, paypal ended up refunding ALL the money back to my buddy. I forget the details about it since it was a few years ago, but THAT lesson has taught me to NEVER tie a paypal acct with a checking acct you use to pay bills, EVER.

did either one of you call their customer service? i hate playing email tag with companies, even more so when it has something to do with money. i was originally going to email them and ask what was up, but found the phone number first. took 10 mins and got the entire refund.

yes at least half a dozen times in each instance...prfer not to use paypal now... even tried going through my bank but they said because the way paypal withdraws money nothing they can do....they told me top 2 compalints they get are ebay and paypal... now ebay is going to buy bill me later! in the instance of the $300 transaction because wasn't on ebay simply refused to do anything said they only back transactions performed on ebay! great buyer protection !

Whenever possible, use your credit card with PayPal.
Most credit cards have fraud protection, so even if PayPal gives you the shaft...your credit card co. will keep on them until they make things right.
