RCI Metal Works

Hey all,

I order a front skid for my Ranger on Sunday, October 14th. Thinking it is just a small business and what not, i would probably not be getting a order confirmation that night especially since it was a Sunday, i waited til Monday, Tuesday and now Wednesday...Nothing. Just a paypal invoice but no communication from RCI at all. Am i not giving them enough time? I just thought i would get an acknowledgement of the order and actually by now a tracking number? I guess im just too excited for the skids!

Is it ebay? Sometimes sellers just send stuff and have no contact with you after the sale. Shoot them an email.

RCI is run by joshp767. He has offered discounts to members in the past.

The plates are excellent quality. I have all three on my ranger and am thinking of getting one for my dad's F150 as well.

Yes the plates are awesome! I got one myself. If you have (or anyone else) an issue with an order go to his site and try him there. Wait til you see how it arrives, it is excellence all around!!

Josh is good to deal with. When I got my skid the box was all f'd up and there was no hardwear, but that's not their fault and I made out. If you have A/C and a tranny cooler, you'll need to hack a piece out of the front left side of the skid to get it to fit around the hoses.

I didn't. The hoses touch the plate but there is no need to cut a hole in it. The whole point is to protect that stuff.

The hoses held my plate about 2" from the frame holes so I had to whack out a small square in the corner to mount it. I'll upload a pic, been meaning to anyway.

I know it looks like it would fit, but trust me it wasn't even close. We bent the hoses up a little bit, ziptied them back and cut out that corner piece. The clamp on the hose is just barely touching the edge of the plate.

Hmm, hopping i wont have to do that but we'll see. I have a BL i am going to install in a few weeks cause i won't have enough time in the near future, but is it okay if i throw the skid plate on? Or will it be easier to lift it with it off and then just put it on after the BL is on?

I'm the only person I've heard of this happening to. Lots of guys on the other ranger forums have them and none have had to do this from what I've seen. Could be a slightly different placement of the hosing on the Canadian trucks, I'm not sure.

You could of just pulled those tranny cooler lines off of the clip and ditched the clip. and it would of had plenty of slack

Leave it off. you'll need to disconnect your tranny cooler so it doesn't bind when lifting the truck.

actually were you the one doing the 1" lift?

I have two of these skids on my truck, i got em before he started doing designs on them. I'm not a huge fan of the new look, but you won't be disappointed. i love mine and they are beefy. great quality

I rock a front and Tcase skid from RCI, and they are doing great. I high center myself constantly on my tcase skid, and its the only reason I still have a transfer case. Reasonable price, the owner gives a damn and responded to my questions, and even made sure he could get them delivered to the border in time for my parents to pick up while they were visiting the USA, so I didnt have to make a separate trip to pick them up.
Its seldom I can say all good things about a company. Good job Josh

Mines a Canadian truck, has a/c but no trans cooler lines. I didn't have to cut my plates.

For those thinking about buying these, they are worth it. My transfer case skid had the whole weight of the truck on it at SL and it curved slightly. My own fault not the product's design caused this. The front skid took some decent hits too and no issues whatsoever.

If I had to buy a second set of skids for some reason I wouldn't think twice on these.
