East TN Ford Owners Beware of Lance Cunningham Ford(Knoxville)
Don't ever take your truck to Lance Cunningham Ford in Knoxville unless you want your truck completely FUBAR.
Took the Ranger to stealership this past Tuesday to get my shift cable replaced since the plastic sheath that surrounds it to the side of the transmission broke. Under my instruction I wanted them to go ahead and re-adjust the overdrive and intermediate bands since it easier to do that with all of that linkage off. After new parts were put on and bands adjusted, the tech took the Ranger for a spin. He tightened the overdrive band too much and burnt up 1st and 5th gear clutch packs thus totally f'ing the transmission. After 20 mins on the phone and another 20 mins or so at the dealer fighting, I still had to pay the labor and parts ($400) and to have my transmission rebuilt ($1500). Thanks ********!
Moral of the story, don't take your vehicle there (or any other dealer IMO now) since they have no idea how to do routine maintenance on a 5R55E transmission which is in about every newer Ranger on the road today along with Explorers if not other vehicles.

Dude, they didnt take responsibility for any of it?
Manual swap lol. jk.
Seriously that sucks to hear.
I try to avoid getting service done at a stealership.
I will ONLY take anything of mine to a certain dealership. That is because I personally know the mechanic, and I request his service every time.

But yeah they didn't take any responsibility, and they didn't even tell me they were sorry! Well as costly as it was, I have definitely learned my lesson. I will from this day forward take it to my mechanic I usually use. He doesn't play any games and tells me how it is straight lol.
That sucks man!
Sounds like it was their fault causing the damage & they should be responsible for repairing or at least reimbursing you for getting the work done at a more competent place.
Don't take the law into your own hands, take them to court... the People's Court.

But yeah I tried to get them to wave the fee for what they had done on Tuesday instead of holding them accountable for f'ing my transmission. That didn't work lol.
I have thought about going down there and threatening them with the local paper or something. I really don't thing a lawsuit would help me, but ya never know. And I don't want to step on too many toes since I know the parts manager personally and I get Ford parts at dealer price or less (35-45%) which is pretty dang nice, haha!
