would this actually be a 2nd gen? whats the software version?
just asking because I believe that 3rd gen was only 32 or 64gb, the 8gb 2nd gens were continued to be sold along with them.

just wondering because can the 2nd gen be upgraded to ios 5?

Looks like you are right. Updated original post with more information.

Not sure about iOS 5 upgrade compatibility.
