Thinking of painting my wheels

Alright so basically my friends uncle just painted the wheels on his Tahoe black and it looks sexy as hell so I told my friend that I wanted to do it to because I love trucks with black wheels. I was expecting him to say yeah go for it but instead he was just like I don't know do you really think it would look good? So here is a pic of my truck do you think it would look good on black wheels? Also if I was thinking if I painted the wheels I might paint everything that is chrome black so it would just be all blue and black like the chrome on the bumper area and the Ranger tags plus the bed edge cap/guards or whatever they are called. Yeah so what do you guys think?

you should remove the chrome covers before painting...id dismount the tires and have them powdercoated

X2 on pulling the chrome covers. I would just sand them and paint them with some rustoleum professional.

Leave the chrome alone, everything looks good on your truck.

I think its personal preference but imo i like black wheels.. and with chrome centers they look like cop car wheels and i like the look of cop car wheels ....

I have been thinking about painting my wheels but i am reluctant because i dont want to f it up cause they are not steel wheels... I would powder coat but its 80$ a wheel and i just cant do that right now

IMO with lighter color trucks, chrome is the way to go. dark colored trucks need to be blacked out(though black trucks pull off chrome good). but that's just my opinion, id say just stick with the chrome style

Does that apply to DSG, as well? I ask because I was thinking about going with black and my nerf bars already are, but the grill assembly and both bumpers are chrome, so I'm struggling with which route to take.

Yeah I think I am going to go for it because I love the look of black wheels. I'm not sure why that picture makes it look like such a light blue because it doesn't look like that in person. It is actually pretty dark and almost purple looking at times. I know it will come out looking good because the guy that is helping me do it is a pro with this kind of stuff. If I did it by myself it would probably look awful haha. Thanks for all of the responses guys

I did this to my truck and it looks great, i had the steel rims and they began to rust. drove me crazy. the truck looked great but rusty rims uggggh. i did each rim individually with the tire on. used a piece of cardboard to keep from painting the tire. started by getting rid of all the rust with a wire brush on my angle grinder. then used automotive primer. sanded and repeated as necessary. the used cheap walmart black gloss and that was it. looks great and and i see no damage. waxed the wheels once to help keep them cleaner. black wheels always look dirty i know now.

Get some cragars or something. Steel wheels arent that bad if you keep em clean. I want black rims, but I dont want to paint 'em.
