Hey guys, I've been noticing alot of people have Edges or 2WD with 3" or 4" BodyLifts..How did yall go about doing that? Just did it yourselves or? Just curious, I'm not mechanically-inclined at all and kinda asked around town a few months ago and shops were quoting $1500 to do it.

 

Well you didn't see a 4" body lift lol but any how its pretty simple the kit costs around 170 new.... Its pretty simple to install if you follow the insturctions..

 

me and 2 other friends did it at his house. one only of use knew what we were doing. went pretty smooth for the most part. Just read the thread floating on here about tips for doing the lift. its not too bad at all. took us about 10 hours or so with breaks

 

I recommend doing a 3" spindle lift for a 2WD, its costlier, but looks better

 

Yeah thats what I've heard.. Just gotta buckle down and buy the kit and lure friends over with beer one weekend I guess..Well Im nervous to do it now because I settled on 30.5" tires and 17" wheels, scared they will look too small on a 3" BL

 

x2. i like my body lift alot but i wouldnt have mind having the funds to have done spindles

 

Heard of a spindle lift but no clue what the difference is.

 

Just save money and wait till your tires are bald and get bigger ones

 

Yes it will look horrible with that small a tire. Minimum tire I would run on a BL is a 33" tire. First BL is always the hardest. Each one after gets easier and takes less time. Oh and one more thing to add. On a 98+ Tbar truck with a little bit of a crank on the front end you can fit 32's stock.

 

me and a buddy did my 3" body lift in a day and a 1/2 but if i did another one it would be about 1/2 that time lol...
as in 30's yaaaa i would say too small here are 32's on a edge body lifted truck





33's will be the next size tire i get

 

Finally, thanks for posting pics Silver. Checked out your profile and was trying to look at your truck, hell even went through your posted threads and couldnt find any lol. Definately like your truck, real sharp looking. Not too many people have rims like yours (or mine) down here, its a sweet look. Those are only 32s? Looks good man.. Yeah, gotta wait for my tires to bald out and convince the ole fiancee to hold off on the wedding plans, daddy's gotta lift his truck!!! You can help me with that, right Silver?? no lifts 4 me been there done that lol ......... but a well worth mod lol....... and 33's all the way

but in all not a relay hard but it can presents a few challenges when she wonts too lol

 

Go for it, its not that bad. I did mine pretty much by myself over 2 days.

I don't know what these guys think was so easy about doing a BL, but I found it pretty tough, personally. I am ASE certified in 3 areas and have wrenched for a living for nearly 8 years now...I thought it was a major PITA.

I kept asking myself, while I was doing it, how all these guys that work on computers and stuff for a living put on a BL themselves in their driveway.

My suggestion would be to find someone on the forums who has done it before in your area and can help you.

It took me 8 hours start to finish...but I bet I could do it in 5 next time...4 if it's a new truck and not all rusty like mine...but like the instructions, and the pictures that came with them...completely confusing.

 

other than the body bolts giving hell and a 1st time pulling it off 5 to 6 hours 4 such a mod is well worth the end results

 

Lol it was driveable after 2 days, just bumperless haha
