What mod in your opinion gave you the best MPG increase? (E-Fan, exhaust, chip, cold air intake, etc.)

 

I think an intake/airbox mod kills mileage because it's giving the engine more air for the same exhaust. ( this is if you have a stock exhaust ) More air means it's getting more fuel also probably.
I just put an e-fan on today, i'll see how it works for mpg in the next day or so and post.
I have a JET chip too, no change.

Larger heavier tires totally bring the mpg down the drain.

 

if i wanted gas mileage i would get these in this order..

KEEP OUT OF THE THROTTLE!! NOT PAST 2500k-3000k on shifts
leave stock tires
bamachips tuner/chip running 93
magnaflow exhaust
e-fan
air intake..

the best mpg i ever got was with...
32 inch tires, bamachip(93 octane), and stock air intake. i got 20.2 mpg with city driving once and averaged 19.3 mpg over several tanks.

 

Well guessing from you truck page you already have a tonneau, efan, and intake. the only other additions would be the programmer and exhaust.

What is your mileage now? Tire size?

and another question, you said you got the best mileage with the stock air intake. Was that with stock exhaust?

 

#1 on my list would be a tonneau cover. But it's false economy...
you'd never save enough to pay for the purchase.

For hiway use, changing the 4.10 to a more reasonable ratio would also help.

Ahhh...You dont need no tonneau cover....just throw a whole sh*t load of fire wood in the back and drive highway. I delivered to my grandparents a load of wood and got 26.8 mpg over 160 miles. Best I've seen in my truck.

 

26.8 huh? No offense, but I think you should brush up on your math. I can't see fuel economy like that from our trucks...

Right now I'm getting 19.2 city/highway mixed. Tires are stock Goodyear Wrangler RTS, 245/75-R16 @36 PSI cold.
What PN Magnaflow are you guys running? I was thinking of getting the 9424512 SI (2.25) DO (2.00) and exiting in front of the rear tire.

 

I get my best mpg when i do the PARK mod.

or drive the parents car.

 

fresh plugs help if you are not where you think you should be as far as mpg. Synthetic oils can help a little.

 

Buy and Escape Hybrid... wouldnt mind owning one myself.

 

I agree, there is no way you are gonna get 26.8 mpg with a load in the back. The stock numbers for mpg don't even go that high. IF that number is true, that is the best number i have ever seen for mileage out of a 4.0L.

The best I got on my 3.0 was about 22, average was 18 and that was after intake, exhaust, tuner, 33's, maf mod.

 

My best so far w/ the 34's have been around 13-14...

My last tank I got about 10...

Thats what I did! But other than that I would say the programmer for me!

 

I could get 24 MPG in the 04 3.0L even after the 31s, on the 4banger I used to get 27 MPG with small tires tho

 

Easiest thing to do is trade it in on a Toyota Prius if you want fuel mileage anymore.

ok now whats the deal with flex fuel? i heard you can use like 80% corn oil or sumthing mixed with your gas... is this true or just a myth?

 

I'm in the same MPG boat as Brenton..... i'm usually at 10-13mpg but thats becasue of me living in Anaheim HILLS.. where there isnt flat ground for miles!!!!!! *snakes fist* Any little pointers would be awsome!

 

i can look the part number up but it was SI 2.5 in and dual 2.25 out.

it was with my dual magnaflow exhaust setup.
