Thinking about getting another Ranger
Thinking about getting another Ranger
Ok, so heres the deal. I regret selling my Ranger every single day lol.. I LOVE the fiddy, but its just too god dam big for anything(offroading wise) that i like
Im thinking about giving the Fiddy to the fiance to drive and possibly getting another Ranger for me. The Ranger will be double lifted, sitting on 35's if i so choose to get another Ranger.
My question to you all is, what would you do? Should i just lift the fiddy, and make it more off-road capable, or hand the keys to the fiance and get another Ranger and lift it?
If i go the Ranger route, it will be my DD and the fiddy will be the fiance's DD. I really love the fiddy, but i just think its tooo big to do any offroading other than mudding. I have a hard enough time getting the thing into and out of small parking lots let alone wheeling it lol..
SO, what would you do? And if i do go the Ranger route, would you guys go with the OHV or SOHV 4.0?
Thanks for the advice/oppinions guys!
Basically i am wanting something that i can use as a dd, and also take wheeling wherever without having to worry about not being able to fit.

well right now i am in florida, i leave for afghanistan in october, dont come back until the following september/october then going to Iowa. There are ALOT of little places to go wheeling back home, most places the f150 would fit(open fields, just mudding), but the places that alot of people have the most fun at are trails that the f150 wouldnt fit. Mostly jeeps/taco's go into these places.
yeah, im talking to alot of my friends back home that all have trucks, some have jeeps(wranglers and cherokees) all are lifted, and seeing what they think.. I havnt really been home for more than 2 weeks in the last 3 years, so i guess i dont really know what would be best to wheel with lol
ok, well ive talked to 5 different people and they have all said pertty much the same thing. I will have NO problems with the f150 back home. All of them actually told me to lift the f150 and through a huge winch on it so i can be the one to pull them all out lmao.
so i guess its keeping the f150. Sorry to post this thread, should have done the research first.

Its not like im not earning my paycheck lol. honestly, 32K is not enough IMHO for what i will be doing. But, I didnt volunteer to go with the army for the money, so its a null argument really. the money's just a bonus
well the f150 will be going back to iowa for the fiance to drive while im gone. Looks like ill juts lift the f150 and use it as the dd/play toy after all.. Get the fiance her freaking taurus that she wants lol.
Don't lift the 150. Take the money that you were gonna use to lift and wheels and tires and spend that on a trail rig. Then just use the 150 to DD and as a tow rig. Thats what I wish I had of done, my KM2s alone could have got me a decent jeep.
Because you can have a lot more fun with a vehicle if you can bash the hell out of it and not have to worry about driving it the next day.
I think you would get more use out of spending that money on the lift on a trail rig. Thats just what I would do/am going to do though lol
I defnitely respect what you guys do. My fiance's brother in law was special forces, capture and kill in iraq and he was deployed right after he got married for about a year, and then again after he had his first son. Horrible timing, and when you get used to shooting anyone that comes at you or causes problems its hard to come back to society. He doesn't even know how many people he has killed. Just shoot until they stop shooting back.
Jeeps are normally over-priced for what you get. There is a ton of bolt on aftermarket stuff but you always start out with weak axles and suspension anyway.
I wouldn't mind getting a 94 or older Explorer, if you can find a clean(ish) one, and throw a D44 under the front.

yeah, i love explorers! for right now, since i just wrecked the f150, it will be the dd and weekend warrior lol.. down the road when i get settled in the new job next year, i will start looking for a toy REAL hard.
