Question on Fuel Indicator
Question on Fuel Indicator
May seem like a bit of a silly question. I just picked up an 08 Regular Cab Automatic. Does anyone how far you can drive after the fuel indicator light comes on. Do I have much time I have notice it comes on a little bit before empty. Am I going to be SOL when it actually hits E is what I am getting at?
As a very rough estimate, most Ford low fuel lights come on with 50~60 miles of fuel left. Of course, that depends on conditions and driving habits and truck-to-truck variability but you should have plenty to get you to a station.
Since i've run out of gas in an old explorer and a newer cavalier before the low fuel light has come on i don't trust them anymore and fill up when it hits a 1/4 tank. But typically it should come on with about 2-3 gallons left.
thanks for the replies I am just to get a feel for how fast I need to get to a gas station once light comes on. I think robertranger is correct comes on with about 3 gallons left and dovetails with what rwenszing stated about have 50 or 60 miles left once light comes on. Trust me once light comes on I am gassing up.
Yes, it is one of the 3 functions of the "Check Gage" light near the upper edge of the cluster between the tach and temp gauge. The CG will also illuminate if the coolant temperature gauge goes too high ot the oil pressure gauge goes too low.
