Tunes

Where do you guys get your tunes? I got mine from Doug at Bamachips last year and I've hear some good reviews on some other people's tunes. So.... Just wondering, where do you get your tunes and what company do you think has the best tunes?

I have a Superchips Cortex programmer and it is just alright. Of course they are just canned preset tunes so you can't expect much. I'm looking to get a tuner with custom tunes so this should be interesting.

I have one by Don at LaSota Racing.

I like it. I might try one by another tuner just to see if there is a difference.

How much different are all these tunes? Are they so much different from other companies?

Did everyone buy tuners?

I obviously don't know much about tuning

Not to be a smartass, but how does the tuner itself help? I have an Xcal 2 and tunes from Doug @ Bamachips but I mean how much better would tunes from say, LaSota be? Or how much difference would a Diablo Sport Tuner be than the Xcal 2 that I have now?

Honestly I would doubt you'd see much different. Why do you want new ones?

The tune is what makes the difference not the tuner. At least that's what I've been told and understand.

I don't know to be honest. I've just heard some tunes are better than others and some people really like the tunes they got and I thought maybe with some different tunes I could get a little more power.

I seriously doubt another canned tune will make much of a difference. The only way you would get more power is if you had a custom dyno tune. Even then it probably wouldn't make much difference without engine work and a power adder.

I agree with KLC. I wouldn't bother unless you plan on adding another engine mod that would make it more worth while.

do it. a custom dyno tune from your local shop would be best. b/c of altitude and alot of other things. but if you wanted to take the cheap way out i would say nos is the best power to $ ratio.. ive seen k20 hondas make 100hp on a wet 50 shot.

but just like they said its not worth it to tune a nearly stock truck b/c dont you think the millions of dollars ford spent researching to get best tune on there stock motors.

nos or f/i just my .02

im new but i now my way round a performane shop

I'm going to go buy a local shop tomorrow and just shoot the **** with em for a little bit and see how much they'd charge to do everything. Never hurts to ask.

Nah I never made it over there today. My parents ended up having a big long list of stuff to get done so I was stuck doing that.

get a wet nos kit from ebay. 300$ and a tune. and youll be more than pleased. i wouldnt put a huge shot in. but a 50hp shot would throw you in your seat. and ive seen stock 4.0sohc with a 75 shot...all matters on your tuner.

Well my exhaust is looking like **** so I've been considering doing that. Don't really want a CAI but I would like some pullies.
