Passenger Floor Heating Up

I Have an 02 Ranger Edge and I just noticed the other day that the exhaust heats up the passenger side floor. Its not hot enough to melt anything but its very noticeable. Is this normal or a problem?

have you been losing power? reason I say that is that this is one of the signs of a catalytic converter stopping up

My truck used to do it too before I got rid of the stupid vinyl edge flooring, now that I put carpet in you don't feel it
