honestly it was stupid easy to do. straight up swap. all electrical was either color coded or wouldnt reach anything else. only thing i noticed different were a few vacuum and fuel lines were different from the sport trac engine... easy to change though.

this swap was not hard at all. just very time consuming. me and my buddy spent two 8-10 hour days working on it and i was able to drive it home saturday night. the bad part is i broke the mechanical fan taking it off so now i got to figure out how to wire up and mount an electric fan

Did you figure out what caused the low comp on number 4?

Yup just straight swap. But now it's kinda got me wondering about the new engine. Wheni did the compression test kn my old engine I onlyhad onecylinder with low compression.... This one is from an 05 sport trac and it feels like it has more power. It really starts to pull like a mother at about 2200 rpm.

Is there any difference between the engines onthe rangers and sport trace? Different cams or something?

Not yet. I have not had time to tear into the old engine yet. I think it is a bent valve... But I'm not sure yet

Well its good that things went smoothly. I don't know about the engines being different at all, I dont really know much about 'em. but its possible, I know the old jeep 4.0 got more power in a cherokee then in a TJ so it is possible.
and must be nice to have your truck back, I haven't driven mine in 6 days haha, has 2 flat tires, and another with a slow leak, i just don't want to bother fixing them cos I'm getting new ones tomorrow. woo!

just some stock goodyears off someone elses ranger. my tires are baldddd....I found some nice 18" rims off an explorer, but the guy hasn't gotten back to me, so I'm just going to get tires and save for my KMCs.

a possible bent valve after 5 years? how many kms did that one have? if it is a bent valve and nothing to do with the blok itself, fixit and keep it as a spare....

91858km when it went tick tick! Iam going to look into possibilities for building the old engine. I don't know if there are any stroked kits or big bore kits out there. Or maybe build the bottom end stronger, rebuild the heads, and supercharge!
