stripped skid plat bolt
stripped skid plat bolt
I took my skid plate off yesterday to more easily get to my tow hooks. When I went to put the skid plate back on I stripped out of the rear treads in the frame. I noticed that the bolt goes in and a little higher then the frame. I think I can get a bolt in and put a nut inside the frame and get a wrench on the nut. Will with work, I was going to use a lock nut.
Good idea, bad idea ? Discuss.

Mine stripped out also, one up front and one in the back. It doesnt help it is bent to crap, but oh well.
Neil (Lil Blue) posted a while back when I asked the same question. I will find his post because I have yet to fix mine.

I drilled mine out and used larger bolts. Use 3/8" fine thread bolts and tap the hole and it'll be fine. I needed something stronger for my heavier custom skid plate but I wanted to be able to take it off easily and I didn't want no stinkin' blind nuts stuck in there somewhere...
I just put on my skid plate yesterday. I found that the bolts don't want to get to tight on mine as well. I'll probably do as John suggested so that I can use that tap of mine once more other than just once for that damn body lift.
