killed the bumper.

Been a while since I have posted, been busy.

I rear ended someone with the bumper last week. Held up pretty well considering. I twisted it alittle bit, no frame damage, no broken welds.

I did total a CRV though, feel bad about that. Pics will be up soon

our bumpers tend to do that. i killed a ford fusion with mine. just bent it up like a foot. cracked the bumper support in half and bent the bumper mount but it didn't affect the frame at all. or the bumper frame mounts which surprised me.

heres mine:

Stock and busted. I'm kinda glad I wrecked though. It started my passion for automotives.

I hit the rear of a slow moving TrailBlazer (5mph) I was going 50mph. She got the ticket. Illegal lane change.

its really not bad at all, but problem is the insurance. they wont pay to have it straightend, so they just want to replace it. The guy who painted it is going to do the work, and the invoice will be about 2500 for a replacement.

His car, i drove the drivers side rear in about a foot.

Kinda. They want an invoice on what it cost to build so they can write me a check for a replacement as they dont want to spend the money on straightening it. Once I get a check, im going to have him fix it anyway and line-x it this time. Regardless, they are spending a ton less than if I had the stock bumper on. If that were the case, the hood, fender, core support, bumper, valance, fogs...would be destroyed. So in a way, if they have to write me a check for 2500 for a new one, its cheaper for them still.

I am going to do some work to the truck anyways.- new rear bumper (stock), pull some dents, and maybe pull the lift kit. I want to just put some good shocks on there and roll. I dont need the lift anymore. I need to build and mtb rack too.

Side track here but if your looking for a good rack, the Thule T-2 is hard to beat, its hitch mounted, stable secure and easy to load. I mounted a hitch in the bed and it works great

Well, the guy who painted it told me that if he were to have built it, he would charge 3k start to finish. It is kinda hard to price since there are not many comps out there.

Mike, I like the idea of the hitch in the bed, but I have a cap so that may not work. I am actually looking for a platform type, easier to load and unload.

What are you riding? I ride a jamis parker and a komodo.

Oh very nice. My parker likes to break chainstays, so a bottle rocket is on my list as my next frame since the the geo is the same. Its either that or a banshee rune.

If you by any chance run across anyone selling a medium bottle rocket, let me know for sure. I will probably be in the market this winter

Thanks man, I was wondering if you were having issues with chainstays, lol those things snap real easy. I have broken a lot of frames and the bottle rocket has held up awesome. How tall are you? the sizing on the bottle rocket is crazy I am 5'10" and ride the small and its perfect. I have a few friends selling their old bottle rockets I will see if they are still around for ya.
