Entering Car Show.....Thats right i NEED YOUR HELP!!!

Alright....

The story is, last night Firday the 9th, we went to a classic car show. While we were there i was looking at the mustang booth, and picked up the 12 Annual All Mustang And Ford show flyer. Well ive been wanting to put my truck in a show this whole summer and never got around to doing it.

So the show is the 18th, and i have this week for Prep work. I talked to (gary) meatloaf about painting my bumper white....I am probably going to paint the front and rear plastic part of the bumpers, and my mirrors Oxford white, Then get everythig professionally clear coated. (i think i'll be able to do it before the show) (i think). Any comments on that?

Cleaning should'nt be too hard since my truck NEVER gets dirty, and i am going to paint the whole underside of my truck with black paint, and undercoat the rest.

So i have my work cut out for me.....And i'll be making alot of phone calls today to get ready for this project.

So i need everyone's opinion on what im doing, and i need pointers about ANYTHING to make my truck look that much better in the show, i dont know what kind of competetion im up against, but im entering in the "trucks - modified" class. So yeah this outta be fun.

Thanks everyone.

that truck is a winner in my book....there's no other midsize out there that could compete w/rangers anyways

is this car show just for fun, or do they give prizes out?

I think you need roll pan, but that probably wont happen this week other than that just make sure everything is polished and the tires are shining

Thanks, there is going to be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prize in EVERY class.

I have decided to paint everything myself.....We have a good paint gun, and im going to be picking up the paint monday. The only thing is i called the paint place, and gave the guy my Paint Code (Y Z) and all that he could find under my code was "WHITE". and didnt stock it...Now i thought my truck was oxford white....

So i looked at Dupli-Color's website, and for 2001 model year ford apparently has 4 different paint codes for oxford white....they are---

- Y Z what i have
- 9 L
- A 9
- Y 0

So i wonder if i got an Oxford white paint, if it would be different....?

Mark, check the classes. Modified generally means body kits, bagged, or some other crazy mod. Make sure you fit in the class that applies or you will be outdone. Clean Clean Clean. The engine bay needs to look BETTER than the day it came home from the dealer. The same with the interior. The same with the wheels wells, etc. There are people that spend 20-40 hours just detailing their truck and still lose. Once you get there, clean some more. Something like Meguires Quick Detailer or the ION stuff from waterless carwash on the vendors forum is good onsite.

I'm gonna stretch my boundaries here, but check out www.HoodQuickLift.com. This is my website and these lifts really stand out. If you are put in line with other mini trucks, this will help it stand out when they are lined up as the others are gonna have hood props. If budget or time doesn't allow it, think of a creative way to lift the hood. In the import world, they might use a coil spring from the car to hold the hood up.

Good luck and post some pics up. Trevelyn, skyjacker, and I were at a car show today. It can be brutal, but it's also a good way to meat like minded people.

Good luck Mark! What kind of stuff do you have in the interior? A black and white interior theme would look great!

make sure your wheel wells are very clean. paint metal parts in them black don't paint the plastic parts in there won't look right instead clean them with tire cleaner and spray them with a tire foam like no touch or whatever product you use looks alot cleaner. also if you have a jack stand that is in good shape clean it and paint it the color of your trucke then when you get there pull off one of your front wheels off and set it next to your truck and put the stand under it. this might look kind of cool and show off your suspension and detail work.

thats sweet!!! did you photoshop it with all that white?? that sounds sweet but then again like the way the black contrasts the white, but im sure this is too late to keep your black stuff, but that white should be sweet, and different!
