Need Seats

Hey guys I have a new problem I want to fix. I have a 2004 ford ranger xlt. It has hi-back seats.

How ever many owners ago whoever he/she smoked. So I have burn holes in the driver side seat and a tear. Also there is some stains on them.

Anyway I just orderd seat covers they were $80. I put the passenger side one on and it fit but it just did not look natural and I said I guess i'll just leave them on for now. Then I tried putting driver side on (the one that really needs it) and they did not cut the armrest piece right so it does not fit. So i'm pissed and sending them back and instead of ordering new ones I just want new seats entirely.

So I have a couple questions. What seats fit in the ranger? Maybe explorer seats? If anyone has pictures of different seats in it who would like to show me that would be great. I still want to allow as much room in the back 2 seats as possible. Also if anyone knows a website where they sell them. or if anyone in NY is selling some.

Thanks in advanced - Chris

Is your truck an extended cab or a single cab? You've gotta get the seats out of a similar set up truck with the same floor bolt pattern for the seat track if you want to keep it simple. If you've got an extended cab, Explorer seats will bolt right up but you'll need to enlarge the holes on the seat track to fit the Ranger bolts to secure the seat down. Wiring them up is easy if you get power seats, its two wires per seat then you have full power. If you're looking for leather power seats, try to find a set that has manual lumbar support over the airbag type because the bags tend to rip over time, especially if you use the feature a lot. Mine are full power except the lumbar support and the reclining part which is perfect for an extended cab.

Ya I have the extended cab with the 2 little seats that fold out. I think I might keep it simple like you said and find other ranger seats. The junkyard sounds like a good idea.

Go hit up your local pick your own parts yards. I just put in a real nice set of electric explorer seats I got for $100. Had to open up the inside front mounting holes about a 1/4" for the bolts to fit and ran a 12 ga. power wire to each seat.
I used my original seatbelt tensioner I am sure if you did a search you should find lots of posts on this in the interior forum.
Good luck!
