Lost a caliper bracket bolt today!
Heard it go when I was coming to a stop in the turn lane to my work. At first I thought ran something over. But when I accelerated it barely went and was grinding bad. Luckily I only had to drive 50 yards to get to my parking spot lol. Then waited for my lunch and grabbed the right bolt for it. No damage to my wheel or rotor luckily. And even my tape weights are still inside the wheel. Used locktite on both bolts and on the driver side too.
Worst part was the bad ford jokes from my buddy I work with who used to sell Chevys haha
Either way it couldve been worse if I was still on the highway or something.

That happened to me on the interstate one time. The bottom bolt fell out and when I hit the brakes the caliper wedged against the inside of the wheel and tried to rip me off the road. haha It was violent. I just took the top bolt out and put it in the bottom and drove it home. Now I took them all out and red locktighted the hell out of them.
Torque to spec like the factory did. Thread locker alone will NOT keep the bolts in place if they are undertorqued. How many times will we go through this before someone is killed?
Spec for the large Caliper Anchor Bolts is 85 lb-ft in my 2003 shop manual. Others should be similar but check your shop manual to be sure.

When I do my spindle lift I am FOR SURE going to torque wrench everything. Or take it my mechanic to tighten everything down.
I would prefer not to kill myself with the truck I have dropped so much money into.

This just happened to me yesterday. Like some of the others, thankfully I was turning into a parking lot when it let go. I just put a new hub on and made sure to torque all the bolts down when I was done but the lower calliper bolt on the front right still fell out. Through an amazing stroke of luck I was able to find the bolt on the side of the road so I didn't have to replace it. Definitely going to lock-tite those things in now! Is there any danger to over-torquing the bolts?

Proper torque AND threadlocker is the way to go. That's how they came from the assembly line.
